Unaware of Orion's internal calculations, Teress pressed on with her questioning, her tone firm but less menacing. "What were you doing there?" she demanded.
"In the tavern?" Orion replied evenly. "I was seeking information, hoping to uncover any recent unusual occurrences."
"And what did you find?" Teress continued, her eyes scrutinizing him closely.
"I noticed two men wearing white masks. They looked suspicious, but they fled when they realized the city guards were monitoring them," he said.
Teress leaned in, her gaze piercing. "How did you know they were being monitored?"
"The guards weren't particularly skilled at hiding," Orion replied, his voice steady. But as the handcuffs on his wrists flared with a burning red light, he amended, "Or perhaps they weren't skilled enough to evade my eyes." This time, the runes on the handcuffs remained unchanged.
