Chapter 18: Welcome to Squad 5!

Grayson and the others followed the 3rd seat of the fifth squad, known as Gojuro Sezaki through the seireitei as they headed towards the squad five barracks.

Grayson and the others walked in mostly silence, that and the fact Grayson was still getting glared at by the others didn't really help. Still, they were all amazed at how big the seireitei was, seeing as how they had already been walking for a long time now before they finally arrived at the squad five barracks.

"Alright you lot, listen up." The 3rd seat suddenly said coming to a halt.

Everyone in the group also stopped and waited for his instruction.

"This is the squad five barracks, and your new home!" He said, pointing to the large building.

"However, before you get the tour, we first need to get your sworn into the squad." He said, waving his hand for them to follow him.

Grayson and the others followed, noticing how much respect the 3rd seat was getting each time they passed by other members of the squad, all of them greeting him and bowing in respect.

The group soon came to what looked like the main gathering area of the barracks before they entered a large hall.

"This is the main hall of squad five. Here you will be given briefs and take part in meetings if required to do so." The 3rd seat said, also explaining that it was linked to a larger part of the barracks.

"Good afternoon, 3rd seat Sezaki." A female voice suddenly said, coming from the other side of the hall.

"Ah, lieutenant Hinamori." The 3rd seat said bowing towards her in respect, getting everyone else to do so.

Grayson took a good look at the lieutenant, seeing she had brown eyes and wore the standard Shinigami shihakushō, with her black hair pulled into a bun held in a tied cloth, wearing the 5th division's lieutenant armband. around her arm.

"So, these are the new recruits." She asked as she walked over, getting a good look at them.

"Wow, so that's a lieutenant." One of the others said, feeling impressed at the sight of her.

Grayson could also sense that she was strong, despite how she looked.

"Alright, I trust you to show them the ropes and appoint them to their positions Sezaki." She said with a smile.

"Of course," Sezaki said in confidence.

Grayson could tell both of them were strong and decided to check their levels quickly, trying to see just how stong they both were.

Grayson used the system to quickly check the basics numbers without having to concentrate too hard.

Name: Gojuro Sezaki.

Class: Soul reaper 3rd seat.

"So, that's a 3rd seat... He's not much stronger than I am." Grayson said as he looked at his stats before looking over to the lieutenant.

Name: Momo Hinamori.

Level 40.

Class: Soul reaper Lieutenant.

Health: 500/500

Stamina: 490/490

Reiatsu: 700/700

Grayson was surprised when he looked at the lieutenant's stats, seeing that she was about at the same level as the hollow he had fought.

"So that is the jump from a 3rd seat to a lieutenant." Grayson then thought, seeing the difference in their power.

"Now, now. Will you not allow me to greet the new recruits?" A calm male voice said, surprising everyone in the room, and causing them all to turn around.

"C-Captain Azien." The lieutenant suddenly said, shocked that he had come.

"Captain." The 3rd seat said, quickly bowing to him and getting the others including Grayson to do the same.

"Please." Aizen said, waiting for everyone to raise their head before he looked at the recruits.

"Allow me to welcome you all to squad five," Aizen said, looking all of them in the eye, seeming to fix his attention on Grayson once he noticed him.

Everyone was amazed at the appearance of a captain, feeling the overwhelming power that he commanded.

Grayson had some memory of Aizen, but it was so hazy that he couldn't remember anything other than him saving him from the Hollows all that time ago.

"I wonder how strong he is..." Grayson thought, trying to see his level.

Name: Sōsuke Aizen

Class: Captain.

Health: ???

Stamina: ???

Reiatsu: ???

"No way... I can't even see his level. Does that mean it's too high?" Grayson thought, becoming lost in his display screen and failing to notice Aizen walking over to him.

"You must be Grayson," Aizen said, having walked over to look at him, to the surprise of everyone else.

Grayson was frozen for a second, quickly closing his display and looking the captain in the eye.

"Y-Yes sir, it's a pleasure to meet you, again." He said, bowing his head.

"I have heard impressive things about you from the academy, and so I personally asked for you to be transferred to my squad," Aizen said after seeming impressed by him.

Grayson could already feel the eyes from everyone else on him, including both the 3rd seat and the lieutenants.

"3rd seat Sezaki, take the others on their induction of the barracks," Aizen said, not even turning to look at him.

"Yes sir, at once," Sezaki said, not needing to be told twice.

"Momo, please take Grayson here and show him his new duties." He then said, also getting a nod from her.

"Of course, captain." She said with a smile.

With that everyone else headed off with the 3rd seat, leaving only Grayson, the lieutenant and captain Aizen.

"Alright, follow me," Momo said as she looked at Grayson, turning around and heading out of the hall.

Grayson followed her out of the hall into the main barracks itself, feeling Aizens eyes never leave him.

With that the two of them headed into the large hallway that lead them to a small office.

"Here, this is your new office." She said, showing him the small room.

"My office?" Grayson asked, confused.

"Yes, that's right. Captain Aizen has appointed you to the position of 5th seat." She spoke.

"W-wait a second, me. A 5th seat?" Grayson asked confused.

"That's right, based on your grades and abilities, that's what he said. Honestly, this almost never happens though, so you must be something really special." Momo said, placing her hand on her chin as she became deep in thought.

"I mean to come fresh out of the academy and into a 5th seat position, that sure is something." She said, not questioning it because the order had come from Aizen himself.

"I guess I will bear that in mind." Grayson then said.

"Anyway, how about I show you the ropes?" Momo then asked, seeing that he still looked a little confused.

"Y-Yeah, that would be great." He said, giving her a nervous smile.

"Quest complete, join squad 5. Quest complete, gain a seated position. Quest complete, become 5th seat. Quest complete, meet lieutenant Momo. Quest complete, get your own office.

"What the hell?" Grayson thought as the system continued to fire off notifications inside of his head.

"You have gained 10000 exp and five skill points." The system said after a moment, causing Grayson to almost sweat drop where to stood.

"Is everything alright, Grayson?" Momo asked, seeing the expression on his face.

"Y-Yeah, everything is fine." He said, rubbing the back of his head.

"I understand this is all new and exciting. Ahh... I remember my first day in a new squad." She said with a bright smile.

Grayson could see that Momo was busy looking through some paperwork and quickly opened his stats screen, checking out what was going on.

Name: Grayson.

Level 25. (3400/12000).

Class: Soul reaper of squad five.

Health: 235/235

Stamina: 235/235

Reiatsu: 245/245

"Wow..." Grayson thought as he studied his stats screen, seeing that he had levelled up twice and gained 7 new skill points, giving him a lot to play with.

"Anyway, if you look here, these are your duties as the 5th seat of squad 5." Momo said as she handed him a large document containing all of his duties.

"I see..." He said, opening the first page to take a look.

"I expect you to have read all of that by tomorrow. After all, that is to be expected of a 5th seat." Momo said.

"New quest. Finish reading the instructions by tomorrow, rewards 1000 exp!"

"Of course..." Grayson thought as a drop of sweat formed on his forehead.

"Now come with me and I will introduce you to the rest of the squad." She said, leading the way out of Grayson's new office and out into the courtyard.

"Welcome to the squad, 5th seat Grayson!" A large number of soul reapers suddenly shouted, showing their respect towards Grayson as they bowed their heads.

Grayson had been taken off guard, not expecting to see so many of them waiting for him outside.

"Oh, excellent!" Momo said, happy to see that the squad had gathered as many members as it could to welcome him.

"Yes, welcome indeed. New 5th seat." Another man said as he walked over towards Grayson with another by his side.

"Oh, thank you," Grayson said, not knowing who they were.

"Ah, hello 4th seat Kogawa and 6th Bosetsu." Momo said, greeting them as they walked over.

"Good evening lieutenant." Kogawa said, nodding to her.

"We both wished to meet the new 5th seat. I am Tesho Kogawa 4th seat." The man said.

Grayson could see that he looked strong, large in size and well-built.

"And I am, Yasusu Bosetsu former 5th seat, now 6th seat." The other said, not seeming as pleasant.

Grayson could sense that he wasn't all too happy about that either, seeing the look in his eyes.

"Anyway, we hope you settle in alright, if you need anything, feel free to ask." the 4th seat said, giving Grayson a nod.

"Y-Yeah, thanks," Grayson said, watching as the two of them walked off.

Momo smiled and turned to Grayson.

"Don't mind 6th seat Bosetsu. He was the former 5th seat. However, captain Aizen replaced him with you." She then said.

"Wait, does that mean that everyone from the 5th seat down has been demoted?" Grayson asked.

Momo nodded slowly.

"I'm afraid so. But that's just how things work around here, so no need to feel bad." She said.

"Anyway, let me finish showing you around and then you will be free of me," Momo said as a joke.

"Of course," Grayson said, following her for the rest of the tour.

"I guess things just keep getting more and more interesting." Grayson thought, following her around on the rest of the tour.
