Blade and Miracle

A false prophecy, a conspicuous birth, a sinister ritual and a wholehearted sacrifice. These were the elements that set the Cosmic Gears in motion of this world. It all relied on the variables, Lucien Alaric and Mikaela Howell. Having had a warm childhood was something they were always proud of, at least until they unveiled the illusion of this false happiness. Their moment of joy was apparently measured and limited. “The truth will be revealed to you when you awaken... Believe nothing but what you have witnessed and judged yourselves as the truth... Your enemies are closer than you think... Trust no one!” This were the words the children were left with. Their parents' dying words. Not words for children to live with, right? Clip sneak peek~! "What do you feel?" she asked. "Nothing..?" Mikaela responded, holding his sword tight at hand. In truth, to him, it was no different than cutting down a training puppets head. A tedious endeavor. "Good, you should spare no feeling to enemies, my child," a clear serene voice sounded, like the sweet whisper of the devil. In the air was the fishy rustic iron smell, the scent of human blood. Not just a splash of it but a mass graveyard pool of it. The heavy smell of death. Mikaela stood in the middle of this with calm eyes. The killing intent in his eyes seemed to have become deeper and richer. Lucien is born a mage while Mikaela is born a martial artist. They have distinctly opposing personalities and would rather stay away from each other, but destiny has other plans. They have to unite in the face of the upcoming trials of fate. One loss, spells death to both of them! No compromise! The sacrifice made to protect them drives them to face each day while vengeance motivates them to grow stronger. What kind of future shall they pave in the veil of uncertainty and hidden truth? While Lucien and Mikaela walk different paths, they ultimately have the same destination. The Apex! chapter 7: The day of Luz

It wasn't long before children's weeping was heard.

Merlin Alaric and Mitchell Howell waiting a distance away from the house heaved a sigh of relief almost at the same time. A warm smile formed on Mitchell's lips. Merlin remained silent but his eyes softened significantly staring at the house patiently.

The midwife's daughter left the house and beckoned them in.

Without waiting for the men to adjust to the atmosphere the elderly lady impatiently passed on a skin parchment. Her hoarse voice sounded stern as she said,

"This is a critical period for both a mother and child. Make sure to follow the rules I told you before. Get them to eat something, drink plenty of water, and rest enough. The children should be in a warm environment. It is best if it is beside the mother or in your arms. They should be breastfed very regularly and cleaned not so often with wet cloth, not water. This should just be the first week. Following that, you can have it easy. I will come to check over them ever so often."

She didn't go into many details as she had written most of it but said it so the new mothers could hear. The midwife and her daughter left and returned to their houses after leaving a few words of advice.

At that moment, as if to glorify and honor their birth, the dark sky was painted with countless spectrums of light flying to the far distance. The scarlet crimson moon had vanished and the rest of the stars were shadowed in the brilliance of the shooting stars.

Amber, Amethyst, Aqua, apricot, Azure, crimson, and silver lights flashed time and time again. It was like a magical rain shower.

This peculiar, mystifying, dazzling sight dominated the night sky. It was impossible to call it night anymore as the illumination was closer to the midday sun's brilliance.

This went on for hours until it slowly receded. This was the most phenomenal and spectacular night in history.

The night had yet to be confirmed if it was a good or bad omen.

As Bianca, Anette, Mitchell, and Merlin witnessed this sight, a confirmation was made in their minds.

The prophesy was real!

"Haha-You know, it is weird. I feel a subtle emotion flowing from this child trying to comfort me. I can feel like it is smiling and telling me to be happy," said Bianca softly.

Her voice was hoarse. She stared lovingly at the child in her arms, her smile stained in tears.

"I feel like it is fine to go against the whole world to protect the child. I wouldn't hesitate to do so." Anette said something of a similar effect.

"It was worth it going through all that, everything just to see the peace of my child right now," said Bianca.

Her heavy eyelids started to give out as the child in her arms was taken into Merlin's arms and placed softly beside her.

Merlin turned around and left a few words to Mitchell who sat beside Anette.

"Watch them!"

He left the house.

Although neither of them said it, they all knew it.

What they would do was prevent it from ending in the tragedy of their children. The bond formed had grown very deep and these parents would rather stand against the world to protect them.

This was the most beautiful miracle to have happened to them. More magical than magic itself.

The night passed while their gaze turned deep as they seemed to have understood or accepted something. The burden they had to carry had outlined its form and they were willing to carry it to the very end.

As outsiders, there was no huge event on the birth of their children. It passed by quickly partially because Merlin had made a spell to ignore the birth to a certain extent and not associate it with the peculiar events of the night. Similar to the magic spell they cast on the day of their arrival at Grinas village. A suggestion spell that went on for a long time until it became part of their daily lives and suggestion took form in reality without any sign or detection.

A figure knelt in front of a window. The stained glass depicted of the sun in the embrace of an ethereal figure of a woman. Her majestic body was made of pure golden light even brighter than the sun in her embrace.

In front of a golden stained glass, he clasped his hands, his head on his fists, and piously bowed to the golden shimmering light.

Soon, he looked up and his face was revealed. Draped by a translucent silver veil over his body. His silky golden hair spread on the floor and his golden lashes danced with each blink. His skin was porcelain and unblemished. He looked pure, bathed in holy light as the light fell over his form through the glass. He looked like the beloved child of Sol if anyone would picture one.

His young features revealed that he was hardly a teenager. The emotion in his eyes didn't stir at the beautiful sight unfolding in front of him. He gazed at the lights and clasped his hands once more continuing his prayer.

'Is that the sign of my destiny, the one spoken in the prophecy?' the young saint of the Goddess of Sol Church wondered.

He knew not of the matters outside the church and neither was he interested in them. From the time he was born, he was declared the new saint and he has been since. He was never exposed to the filth of the world. His only mission is to pray to the Goddess. While everyone believed she had abandoned them since no revelation had been made for a long time, he knew the goddess was watching over the kingdom.

Her loving grace was ever present with him!

On the other end of the cathedral, an old man with white gray hair flowing to his heels was witnessing the same sight.

"Ahh! So it was true after all," he murmured under his breath.

A smile formed on his lips exposing his whites. His eyes bulged almost losing his calm.

'My Goddess with surely understand the reason for my actions. All I do is for the sake of the church!'

He walked back to his chambers, the smile on his face wiped off his face. His solemn look was masked with innocence and grace.

Similarly, at the same time Elias Alaric, Sagar Howell, and Adelina Howell stared at the sight as a glimmer of melancholy flashed their eyes. Many changes happened since that day. Sagar had declared his will to rise to the Howell family patriarch position. Elias was making changes to the mages within his family and strict rules were amended within. The cooperation between the Alaric and Howell family was formed through a shared experience and they strived to grow. In the eyes of the public, it had become a tyrant family ruled by Monarchs.

In a cave hidden underground has slight movement. A pair of eyes slit open and gazed above. They seemed to see through the stone obstacle and gaze far away. The creature had sensed the changes of fate and twists of the times. It looked at the sight for a few moments before deciding it was trivial. In the darkness, its eyes like glass orbs shut again and continued its slumber.

All the world mages in the field of astrology tried their best to interpret the changes of the stars but too many meanings could be given by such activities.

With the collaborative effort of many influential figures across the world, the day was named in history, the day of Luz.
