Something Covered

Ravi was breathing as quietly as he could in the late night, he leaned against the wall to hear any movement in the next room. But there was silence, only the sound of the spring wind crackling outside, making the leaves dance to the wind. What's wrong with Daniel? He had been shutting himself in since two days ago, Ravi was sure of that. Even though his mother said Daniel was out of town and didn't know when he would be back.

Even if it was true that Daniel was away, his brother would have said goodbye to him. Ravi occasionally hears movement at the end of Daniel's room, objects fall, something that breaks maybe a glass. However, as soon as the voice appeared, it would sink back into silence like never before.

Father, mother even Raymond seemed to be hiding this from Ravi. They sometimes pretended as if they didn't hear Ravi asking when he brought up the conversation about Daniel's presence when they were chatting together.

"What's going on?" Ravi asked himself. He pressed his feet closer to his chest.

Ravi flinched at the sound growl outside his window. He rose to his feet ignoring the dizziness that popped up in his head when he moved too fast. Ravi peeked first to see where the sound came from. However, his vision was limited, the voice came far to the left beyond Ravi's sight.

Ravi opened the window slightly, so what he saw there made his breath catch. How not, there was a silver-haired man with pointed ears, floating using white wings flapping behind his back. He wore a strange suit that clung to his body, at a glance it was like a sturdy armor stuck to it. The man looked to be Raymond's countryman. Ravi didn't know why he was around Daniel's balcony and his presence brought Ravi an unpleasant feeling.

"He's still alive. Maybe I didn't give you enough poison." He laughed sarcastically, then his lips curled into a smirk as Daniel stumbled out. Ravi took a sharp breath when at last he could see Daniel again even in this condition.

Ravi's guess was right, Daniel was in his room, not in good condition. However, Ravi's heartfelt pinched by the lies he received, no one told him about this. About poison, about who this man is, and his relationship with Daniel.

"There's no speaking room for you here. So go," Daniel hissed sharply and harshly. Even Daniel's words and tone made Ravi shiver behind him. He had never heard Daniel speak like this before, not even with Raymond.

"Relax, I want to enjoy every bit of your suffering. So I'm going to recreate your and that damn boy's days in hell." Hatred flowed smoothly from the silver-haired man's words, he looked back at Daniel with a dangerous glint in his eyes, his face hardened in his square jaw. "I didn't want to end it so soon."

Daniel snorted, he took a steady step this time, his fingers clenched tightly at his sides. "How dare you touch my family, I will make what happened fifty years ago happen again."

The man chuckled sarcastically. "I can't wait for it."

Ravi snapped out of his peek as the stranger's eyes rolled onto Ravi's for a split second and the man smirked and then flew away.

He saw me.

Ravi darted back against the wall feeling his heart beating violently. He never allowed fear to overwhelm him, but about that gaze, it was filled with hatred and calculation that radiated from the man. Ravi shuddered as he still felt and heard the voice of a strange man inside his head.

Who's he? What is Daniel hiding? What does Daniel know while Ravi doesn't? What happened fifty years ago?

Similar questions kept buzzing in Ravi's mind, making him uncomfortable. In his inner turmoil, Ravi's tears unknowingly rolled down his cheeks which were cold from the spring breeze. He pressed his feet to his chest to make himself as comfortable as possible. He was a man, he shouldn't have acted so weakly like this.

A soft knock on the door interrupted Ravi's thoughts, he wiped the tears from his cheeks. Glancing at the mirror for a moment against the wall and exhaling slowly. He walked to the side of the door not wanting to lie to anyone that he wasn't sleeping.

Ravi opened the door only to see Raymond standing in front of him hugging himself. Ravi furrowed his brows looking at Raymond with a pale face and lost his hue. Ravi finally spoke in the silence of the night and the dim light from Raymond's shining eyes almost shifted his focus. "What is it?"

Raymond hasn't answered yet he continues to scrutinize Ravi with his eyes, Ravi is honestly very uncomfortable being watched like this but he doesn't give up even averting his gaze.

"Why isn't Ravi sleeping?" Finally, Raymond very slowly opened his voice in a whisper.

Ravi blinked he turned his gaze behind Raymond's head and replied "I'm not sleepy yet. What's wrong Raymond? Need something?"

"Ravi don't be afraid, I'm here," he said suddenly. Ravi was taken aback at what Raymond had just said. He could feel his cheeks heating, the speed of his heartbeat increasing as Raymond slowly stepped closer to the room Ravi was standing on.

"How can you think I'm scared?" he said looking directly into Raymond's different-colored eyes.

"I know what Ravi is thinking, and what Ravi feels."

"No, you don't know," Ravi denied. He wasn't saying he didn't trust Raymond, but Ravi felt his privacy was being invaded. He never wanted to share anything but happiness with others.

"I know. That man could never hurt Ravi."

Ravi's eyes widened, he was surprised by Raymond's words. His stomach felt twisted as the silver-haired foreign man's voice entered his head again. He somehow felt anger in his mind, about how his parents lied, and Raymond didn't even say anything to him. "He didn't hurt me. But he did hurt Daniel, I know that. I believe that you do know what I'm thinking, but you never know how I feel yesterday and now. this." Ravi shook his head, feeling the tears he was trying to hold back. "You don't know anything. Dad, mom, Daniel even you Raymond, I don't know what you guys are hiding from me. I don't know what else to say. Go back to your room, I want to sleep."

Ravi didn't want to see how Raymond would react, or else he would regret every word he said. When Ravi stepped back to close the door, Raymond suddenly grabbed his wrist. Ravi looked between his hand and Raymond's face. Where did Raymond's courage come from? Hadn't Ravi told him not to touch his like this?

Ravi brushed it off. "Don't touch. I'm disappointed."

"Ravi sorry, Because I can't tell the truth."

Ravi didn't know what he was doing. He honestly didn't want to get mad at Raymond. It was his right because even though Raymond said he belonged to Ravi, to Ravi Raymond was Ramond himself. However, why did Ravi act like this?

"No apologies, for people doing wrong on purpose. Get out of my sight." After saying that, Ravi's eyes widened at Raymond whose shoulders drooped. Ravi covered his mouth and shook his head helplessly. What did he say?

Ravi shook his head again, he didn't want to say that. The words came out of his mouth suddenly. Unknowingly his tears fell, He saw a sad expression emerging from Raymond, but Ravi's hand closed the door hard first.

What's wrong with him?
