[2.3] Will to Survive

Akuma stands in the center of the oval room. His shirt made into makeshift bandages and blood stained pants. He is wearing mearly a cloak made of wolf hide.

Four pillars with torches attached to them illuminate the whole room. The light barely reflects off of the two statues that are approaching Akuma at an alarming rate.

"I gotta think of something, and i gotta do it fast! Because i don't think those two will just let me pass through." Akuma mumbled as he started to quickly look around the room.

Before he had time to find anything in the room, he jumped out of the way of the smaller knight's mace. The smaller knight statue was half the size of the bigger one, it was still twice the size of Akuma.

What just nearly hit Akuma was a downwards hit, so he just had to jump backwards. Akuma decides to run around the room for a whileand dodge whatever attacks that come at him.

"I see, so they aren't coordinated. The simply see an enemy and aren't aware of each other."

As Akuma realizes this a wide grin spreads across his face. "GOOD!" He yells.

"We now have the enemy's weakness. Now just a plan and an execution of that plan."

Akuma runs back to the center with the bigger knight being there. Akuma notices this far too late and attempts to slide in between the statue's legs. He makes it at the last second as the statue swings its huge sword in a 360 degree angle. Destroying all of the pillars in the process.

Akuma now has no light, and panic hits him like a truck. Though he soon realizes he can use the glowing horn. As he pulls it out, he finds out that niether of the statues are moving.

"What the?" Akuma stares in confusion as he shines the light of the horn onto one of the statues. After a few moments Akuma realizes something. "Wait...if those torches lit themselves then that must have been some magical bullshit..."

Akuma continued to solve the mystery "Those torches probably work like radars, so now that they're gone they shouldn't be able to see me"

Though, still one question was left unanswered, but not for long."But if anything that gives off magic based light is like a radar, then the horn's glow must be a chemical reaction!"

Before Akuma can think any further, he notices the ruins of the pillars moving. The pillars are reconstructing themselves. Along with the pillars comes light. And along with light comes more attacks.

But if Akuma learned something, it's the fact the the two knight statues don't see like humans do, but sense the magic bouncing off of things that shouldn't be in the room. Something like a radar basically. He knows how they work, but that fact is useless to him as the light will always come bak on its own.

Akuma puts some distance between himself and the statues by coming closer to one of the exits. " I'm guessing the two keys that fit in the keyholes at that big door are inside of you two!" Akuma proclaims, finally reaching a logical conclusion.

"In that case, i'll just take out both of you!" He shouts as the smaller statue swiftly approaches from behind the larger one. It swings downwards, to which Akuma responds by not jumping backwards, but to the side.

By the time the smaller statue lifts its mace back up, the bigger statue is already behind it. Chills run down Akuma's spine as the bigger knight swings along the floor, smashing its comrade to pieces and missing its target. As Akuma jumps out of the way of the strike, he spots a glowing green key flying somewhere away along with the rubble from the destroyed statue.

"If this works like i think it does, then the small one shouldn't get back up now." Akuma starts devising a plan while dodging whatever attacks come at him. After a while though, the giant stone knight passes by the rubble of the smaller one.

A faint green glow comes from under the statue's foot as it stops dead in its tracks. Akuma's eyes widen with fear as the giant stone statue lunges at him with full force. The sight could only be comparable to a freight train coming towards a little boy at full speed.

It grabs its enormous sword in a single hand and strikes to its left. Akuma barely unfreezes in time, and dodges at the last second. The sword on his right is lifted up before he even lands on the ground. As his feet finally touch the ground, Akuma spots the clenched fist of the statue sweeping a few centimeters above the ground.

Akuma freezes. Seconds start to feel longer and longer. Once that fist hits him, he's done. He knows he has to move out of the way but his body simply won't move. As if it has already accepted the fate that this is the end.

A split second for a choice. Akuma hesitates to jump out of the way and he is sent flying by across the room. He hits one of the walls, his life slowly starts to flash in front of his. His wound open again and blood flows out of his eyes, mouth and various other parts of his body.

As he is sitting on the cold, rocky ground, through a blur he sees the knight slowly approaching him. His consciousness starts to fade. Slowly, even his mind starts to give up.

Akuma coughs up more blood. The motion of this is enough to make him think at least a bit straight. "Right."

He starts to slowly get up. Each motion comes with an unbearable amount of pain, yet Akuma only clenches his teeth. He finally stand up to his own two feet. "I SAID I'D SURVIVE NO MATTER WHAT!"

The giant knight lifts its sword the, ready the finish Akuma off. The sword starts to glide down and just as it is about to hit Akuma, he jumps out off the way. He runs between the knight's legs, heading towards the rubble of the smaller one. He picks up the mace the stone knight used.

As he runs towards the bigger knight he is almost stopped by the pain he feels. But he doesn't falter one bit. The stone knight still hasn't even turned around yet. Akuma screams as he smashes one of the knight's legs.

He runs to the knight's right. The now immobile knight grabs its sword in reverse and lifts it up. Akuma jumps back as the knight thrusts the sword into the ground right where he stood. If he didn't dodge, Akuma would surely be dead by now.

The enraged Akuma starts running up the blade of the sword. As he runs, black flames burst out of his wounds, sealing them completely. With another scream Akuma jumps up in the direction of the knight's head, and smashes it to pieces using the mace he took from the smaller knight.

As the statue's head turns to rubble, Akuma catches a glimpse of another glowing key. This time blue, as it flies along with the rubble.

Akuma lands on the ground like a corpse.

He desperately tries to reach the exit. He crawls along the ground as his vision gets blurrier and blurrier.

The last thing he sees before blacking out is his hand reaching out to the dim light of the exit. Yet for a moment he stops to think. "Wait.....was the door open?"
