Black Blood Mage

Stealing mushrooms and drinking urine is the only way many in the underground and Demon-controlled city of Adonia know how to live. In such a world, how could anyone–much less a young boy no older than five-years-old–survive?

Alpha

When every human turns 5 years old, they are taken to the Demon Capital of Cocytus for education.

There, they are taught their place in the world–born only to obey the Demons and follow their every command.

They are taught the history of the Demons' society and told of the great feats of King Lucifer.

However, one day they found a young orphan human wandering the streets of Adonia and decided to take him to Cocytus, regardless of his age.

He looked to be no older than 3 years old, but nobody could tell for certain.

The reason for them taking the boy was for an experiment. An old scientist named Kreechur was becoming interested in other races' physiology and wanted to study them.

Most Demons only lust for power, but Kreechur was different. He was one of the few Demons in history that went on the path for knowledge, and this was going to be his greatest experiment yet.

The boy, now known as "Human Test Subject #0000" aka: Alpha, was taken to Kreechur's lab, where he proceeded with all sorts of disturbing experiments. From removing all of his organs and placing them back in the body in different orientations, to even waiting to see how long the boy could last with no food or water.

After so much suffering, the boy seemed to grow accustomed to the pain: no longer screaming as Kreechur peeled back his skin or broke his bones to look inside of them.

The most exciting thing about this whole process for Kreechur was that the boy couldn't–wouldn't–die, no matter how much torture he was subjected to.

Eventually, Kreechur grew fond of his new toy, planning to release the child now that his research was complete.

However, he wanted to conduct one last experiment on Alpha.

He requested a large amount of Royal Demon Blood, as well as a Royal Demon Heart from the castle itself, giving the excuse that it was to research ways to increase the power of the Royal Bloodline. But this was not Kreechur's intended use for his new ingredients.

The Royal Demon Blood and Royal Demon Heart were so black, that when looking at them, Kreechur believed he was looking directly into the void–into the Abyss.

Removing all the beating heart from Alpha's chest, he replaced it with the Royal Demon Heart, hoping the tenacious little thing could bear it.

Then, when Alpha's body grew accustomed to the new organ, he drained his body of his human blood, slowly replacing it with the Royal Demon Blood.

As the black liquid coursed through his veins, Alpha's body went through no noticeable changes–to the delight of Kreechur.

That was until Alpha's eyes shot open, his screams filling the entire lab with a volume that he didn't even reach at the beginning of Kreechur's experiments.

Kreechur could see Alpha's body break down and regenerate, over and over, at a speed not even seen from the King himself; his body healed so perfectly that when it was over, all of the scars covering Alpha's body were gone.

The only change Kreechur could see was his skin becoming more pale, and stumps of horns cresting through the skin on the sides of his head.

Finally, it was time for Kreechur to let Human Test Subject #0000 go; leaving him with two final parting gifts: a strange multi-colored crystal embedded in his left hand, and a name.

"Seeing as he has no name registered, I will name him myself. Dylan. That is a good name for you, my son."

Some time later, at the entrance to Adonia, a young boy was found unconscious and was thrown into an alleyway somewhere in the heart of the city, left to wake up alone eventually.
