Chapter 6• Friends

7th March (Friday), 12:23PM

Byeol POV

"There you go." He retreats to his seat once again. "T-thank you..." I thank him for I don't know how many times today.

We then chatted for a couple of hours and got to know each other.

"It's getting late. Let's head back, shall we?" He exclaims while I hear him getting up from his seat. "Yeah sure."

We head to our rooms silently while I pull his hospital gown, following him. We finally arrived at my room after a short walk.

"I'll see you tomorrow?" Jimin questions me. I nodded, acquiescing. "Okay then that's settled. Good night!" He says while ruffling my hair. "Good night. See you tomorrow." I say to him. I hear him walking away, but then stops. Then I hear the door of the room next to mine open and close. His room is right next to mine? What a coincidence.

I shrug it off and opened the door to my hospital room and went in, doing my routine before going to bed.

End of Byeol POV

—One week later—

13th March (Thursday), 10AM

Knock knock

"Yes? Who is it?" The girl in the hospital bed questioned as the door of her room opens. "Byeolieeee!" The familiar angelic voice rang in her ears.

"Oh! Jimin-ah!" She beamed, excited about the boy visiting her as usual, the feeling never gets old.

"Good morning!~" Jimin exclaimed, sitting down right next to her. "Morning Jiminie~" she replied. Jimin has been visiting or should we say hanging out with Byeol for the past week, and now they're best friends as if they've known each other for years.

"Did you sleep well last night?" The cheerful and energetic boy asked the girl beside him, resting his chin on her shoulder. Jimin was being extra clingy and Byeol realised it but didn't question him.

"Yea, I slept well. How about you? You sound extra cheerful today." Byeol said according to Jimin's behaviour.

"I'm gonna be discharged today!" He beamed at the fact that he's leaving the big boring building he's been staying at for the past week.

"Oh..." Byeol disappointedly said, sad at the fact that one of her only best friends that she made through the week was leaving her.

Jimin noticed her disappointment. "I will come visit you everyday okay? Plus I want to bring you out today." He asked her, cupping her cheeks with his palms.

"Where are you going to bring me?" Byeol asks, disappointment replaced with curiosity. "Where do you want to go?" Jimin shot the question back at her.

Byeol's face lit up as soon as she heard the question, along with her thoughts.

13th March (Thursday),2 PM

Upon hearing the screams and feeling the warming up their bodies in the cool autumn breeze, the girl smiled bigger than she has ever smiled in the past few years.

"Does this satisfy you?" Jimin asked Byeol, worried if his decision of going to the amusement park wasn't good enough for his best friend.

"It's perfect." Byeol said with satisfaction in her tone. "What do you want to do first?" The boy asked her, excited to play himself.

"A rollercoaster!" She beamed like a kid. Jimin smiles and pulled her over to a rollercoaster ride.

13th March (Thursday), 8 PM

After all the excitement and fun, they decided to end the day by going on the Ferris wheel. "Do you want to get on the Ferris wheel?" Jimin asked the girl right next to him, pulling him by his shirt.

"But-" "I will be your eyes." He cuts her off, knowing what she was thinking. Byeol was on the verge of tears. No one except Suzy has treated her this well. For the past 4 years, she thought that she had done something wrong for her mother to abandon her.

"O-ok..." she stuttered from shyness. The boy slightly pushed her towards the ride without letter trip over anything.

"Be careful." Jimin warned the younger girl while getting in the ride. They sat down and silence soon took over as their cart started moving slowly.

"Have you ever been on a Ferris wheel before?" He asked Byeol, being curious of her life long before he met her.

"No.. I've always wanted to get on one because of what I've seen in the movies... but my family wasn't in the perfect financial situation for this kind of entertainment." She said with sadness in her voice, depressed from recalling her sweet but bitter past.

Jimin sighed, affected by her mood. "The world is so cruel and unfair, isn't it?" He asked the girl sitting in the seat opposite on him. The girl nodded, putting her head down

"If you let me,

I'm willing to guide you and be your light in the darkness."
