Brian continued. “Bear gave evidence at the trial that Antonio was living with Giovanni and he was seen with Giovanni the night of the murder by the owner of a Chinese restaurant. Giovanni went to prison for murder but Frankie B. was a slippery son of a bitch and the police had no evidence to charge him.”

“That must have pissed Bear off. Did he love Antonio?” Robbie put his bag on the floor next to him.

“No. Bear was going to terminate the contract after the six months was over and give Antonio a large cash settlement to start over. Both of them knew it wasn’t going to work out. I guess Antonio didn’t remember what was in the contract or didn’t trust Bear, so he went after Giovanni, who convinced him he would be a fawned upon pet if he were Giovanni’s boy.”

“So Antonio went with Giovanni without completing his contract?” Robbie’s eyes opened wide in disbelief. “Bear is so good to you. He would never mistreat or cheat a sub.”
