Chapter 16; The Accident

Amiver Messie and Marcus have returned from their vacation in Cebu, and the holidays have come to an end, so she's back to work the next day. She glanced out of her room window, hearing the sounds of vehicles. Their building, owned by Justine, was really tall. They are not the only ones staying in this building since it is a residential building for wealthy residents. Justine is very wealthy, and any woman would be extremely lucky if Justine takes an interest in her.

He would also be back on Monday, so things were returning to normal, and Denmark wasn't bothering her anymore. Perhaps he got scared by what she said last.

Ding dong," the sound of the doorbell rang as she heard it. She closed the bedroom window and quickly headed to the living room, only to find that Messie had already opened the door.

"Justine!" she exclaimed to him. "I thought you were still coming tomorrow," she said, laughing.

"Hmm, I was excited to see you, so I came early," he replied, winking at her.

"That's quite cheesy," Messie interjected and then turned away playfully.

She chuckled at Messie's comment.

"Umm, I saw Mr. Marquez in the lobby earlier," Justine mentioned.

The smile disappeared from Amiver's face.

"Hmm, he didn't come up here," she replied.

"I see. Maybe he just had something to do around here," Justine responded.

After Justine left, Amiver couldn't help but think about Denmark. She wondered how he was doing. Despite the wrong he did to her in the past, she never had any intention of tarnishing his image, especially considering their childhood connection. Only Messie knew about it, and she had no plans to reveal that secret.

She missed Denmark. She had grown accustomed to his persistence and calls. She found herself wondering what he was doing in the lobby. After a while, she excused herself to Messie, saying she needed to go downstairs for a moment.

But sadly, she didn't see him in the lobby anymore, so she just went back upstairs. Justine was probably right, maybe he just passed by or met someone he knew, she thought.

As the day was turning into evening, at around 6 o'clock, they all decided to have dinner in a restaurant. Justine couldn't come along this time because he had to meet with a client.

Amiver, Messie, and Marcus were in a car heading to the planned restaurant when suddenly, another car crashed into theirs. The crash happened so fast that they didn't expect it, and it left them feeling really shaken up. Marcus, who was sitting in the back, ended up with a cut on his forehead that was bleeding a lot.

When Amiver saw Marcus, she almost fainted upon seeing the amount of blood on his forehead. She woke up Messie, and she immediately opened her eyes.

"Marcus, Marcus," she said, tears in her eyes. But Marcus remained with his eyes closed,

Panicking, Messie immediately called for an ambulance, and they were rushed to the nearest hospital. The doctors assessed Marcus's condition and determined that he needed a blood transfusion due to the extent of his injury.

Messie hugged her, just like her, and there were only a few scratches on her compared to Marcus, who had it much worse.

"Stay strong, everything will be okay," Messie said to her, gently stroking her back, as they both faced the challenges ahead.

As they waited anxiously in the hospital room, the doctor delivered a grim message.

"Let's be grateful, that there was no harm to his brain, but it's heart-wrenching to see so much blood lost from such a wound on his forehead.

They explained that Marcus had a rare blood type, and unfortunately, the hospital's blood bank didn't have the specific blood type he needed. The situation turned dire as time passed, and Marcus's condition worsened.

"We need to secure an AB+ blood for Marcus within the next 24 hours, ma'am. He lost a significant amount of blood, and this could be fatal if we don't find a donor," the doctor's words sent a shiver down Amiver's spine.

She quickly called Justine for help in finding a blood donor. Justine agreed immediately and promised to do everything he could.

She remembered Denmark; his blood type was also rare, like Marcus'. With a determined look, she informed Messie and Justine to watch over Marcus for a bit, explaining that she had something to attend to.

Without having Denmark's direct contact, except his office phone number, she called Maria, hoping she could provide more information. But Maria only knows his number in the office.

She also wasn't sure where Denmark lived.

Amiver rushed to the Marquez mansion, hoping against hope that her ex-husband might be there. She was willing to approach her ex-in-laws, seeking their help."

"Let me in, it's important!" she shouted at the guard. The guard hesitated, as it was the early hours of the morning and he didn't recognize her.

"Call them," she demanded angrily. The guard quickly followed her instructions and soon she was allowed inside.

"Mom, Dad," she said, her voice trembling as tears welled up in her eyes. Her ex-in-law was startled from their sleep by her unexpected arrival.

"Ami, dear, what are you doing here at this hour? Is something wrong?" her mother, Mami Joy, asked, her concern evident as Amiver's tears continued to flow.

"Dadi, I need your help, especially from Denmark," Amiver said, her voice choked with emotion.

"What happened?" her Dadi Carlos inquired, his face displaying a mixture of confusion and worry.

"Marcus, it's Marcus," she said, her voice trembling. "He's struggling. He needs a blood transfusion as soon as possible."

""Help me, Dadi. I know you and Denmark are both AB-. You're my only hope," she said, her voice quivering with tears.

"We need to call Denmark. I'm not feeling well, and I have high blood pressure, so I can't do this," he explained.

Amiver nodded, acknowledging the situation and the urgency of the moment. She held onto the hope that Denmark's blood type could potentially save her son's life.

After calling Denmark, he confirmed that he was on his way to the mansion.

"Have some water while we wait for Denmark," her ex-mother-in-law suggested, and Amiver nodded in agreement.

A little while later, Denmark arrived, seemingly out of breath due to his rush.
