Surprise (Livia)

The divorce has been finalised, and Livia is pregnant again. 

She stares at the two lines—unmistakably dark—on her pregnancy test kit. 

When her cycle skipped for the first time, she assumed it was due to the stress of the divorce. She didn't think much of it. By the second time, she was a little concerned but too busy to give it more thought. 

And now it is the third month. She cannot afford to bury her head in denial like an ostrich any longer. 

'This,' she tries to convince herself, 'must be a false positive. It has to be.' But her gut instinct tells her that the test is accurate. The lines are too distinct for it to be wrong. 

Regardless, she is going to hope against hope and try again. Maybe with another brand of test kits.

The severity of the situation really does not need to be explained. 

Livia feels foolish. Utterly foolish. Here she is, possibly pregnant by her ex-husband thanks to a night of vengeful passion.
