Beyond Your Eyes

There is an old classic saying, in which our eyes are the window to our soul. Our deepest fears and desires hide within them. For Celeste D’Angelo, she is someone others would consider to be very blessed. As the only child to a vastly wealthy family whose power and influence knows no bounds, nothing stands in her way. With her serene personality she adored by her friends and is even considered among her peers as a glamorous classic doll. But despite that, internally Celeste has her own struggles, desires, and fears that if someone paid just a little more attention - they might mock and be cruel to her. On the surface nothing fazes or bothers her, but as one gets deeper and deeper into her skin a different story is told. Dean Cortez is a man who is a human hurricane. Also hailing from a wealthy family, Dean takes life by the reins and drives off leaving a disaster in his wake. Crass and wild, much like a wild mustang, he is a force that can’t be stopped. For Dean he indulges in doing whatever, whoever, and whenever. Embodying everything people expect from a rich kid especially one of equal status to the Cortez Family. But everyone has secrets, and though everyone gets close to him, no one sees the secrets he hides beyond his eyes and deep in his heart. Through some circumstances the pair end up together, and while they are vastly different from one another, their defining traits perfectly balance them out like Yin and Yang. Follow along to see how they navigate their mid-twenties, familial and societal pressures, the secrets they carry, and their growing affection for one another. authors note: This is my first kind of slice of life novel! Chapter 32 - Runaway Train

As I laid in bed holding Celeste I tried to recall just how it ended up like this.

At the party I remember my head was pounding. I had already drank too much and needed to eat more. Thankfully Celeste brought me some food otherwise I would be worse off than normal.

I had just went up on stage to present the art exhibition which ended being well received. Thankfully I have an iron stomach and kidney so I felt fine and was able to get by without going past the buzzed stage.

I went to look for her but she was with my mom. They looked pleased and happy to see one another. Despite the complicated relationship between our families my mom had a soft spot for her.

Celeste always did well in school and overall was an ace in everything. She is humble too, many other of our peers held a superiority complex over one another and flaunted what they did not have. Despite being at the absolute top she never acted that way.

I remember wanting to join them but felt a hand grab my shoulder. "Yo Dean my man look at you. First one of us to actually take over I see." It was Maverick. A pain in the ass. He brought along his groupies that always fawn over him. We have partied quite a few times but he assumed I was his friend because of it.

He was only valuable because his family had a monopoly on high quality whiskey that was a pain to get imported. The taste was smooth and if not for that I would not invite him at all. He was an awful drunk, without fail he would end up passed out in the bathroom - usually in the tub.

I wasn't sure if it was the heat or him not being able to handle his liquor or if he has a weird thing about shower tubs. I vaguely remembered giving him a harsh slap on the back. "Maverick you came, I could have sworn you RSVP'd that you would not come?"

His forehead visibly showed a long vein at that response. His parents had him under house arrest but I was the only one who knew about it.

"Ahaha I would never miss it. I had a meeting but I moved it just for you. By the way I see you brought the ice queen. I know you would never fall for that type considering your history but is she seeing someone right now? If Felix can get a shot so can I."

I just about had a vein pop out. 'This fucker.' His memo was sucking the women he was with dry and leave them right after. He wanted to lead a party life but still have the cash flowing in without doing any effort. 'Her dad would kill you for even thinking about her. You are far from is ideal son-in-law.' I was thinking at the time.

"Nope. Haven't heard anything." I denied. Before he could make a move I decided to hold him down. "Lets get this party started shall we." The waiters brought shot glasses and we began to shoot back shots of liquor. I wanted to get him past his limit so he could find his way to a bathroom somewhere. Just as he took his sixth shot security came over and dispersed everyone. 'Serves them right. Intruding in my territory.' I felt my balance get all funky.

I saw the look on Celestes and my moms faces and I felt a but guilty but also felt my brain begin to fog. Maybe because I drank on an empty stomach and no sleep but I was past the buzzed stage and was drunk. I also took more shots than Maverick to force him to drink more. 'This is not good.' I could recall that I was still somewhat aware of my surroundings but it was quickly getting blurry and the world felt like it was moving beneath my feet, my inhibitions were down.

Celeste also looked surprised but did not disobey my mom. "Dean why don't we get up and go home ok?" Her gentle look she made just for me was like an arrow shot in my heart. It was like looking at an angel, everything around me blurry besides her glowing beauty.

Tempting. So utterly tempting as I felt the familiar gnaw and heat in my lower abdomen, this was something I wanted burned in my memory forever. I was fazed for a bit. Before I knew it I leaned my head into her neck and breathed in her addictive scent. "Yeah lets go home." I was acting on my subconscious desires.

While that was burned into my head the rest of the events after I was lost on. A complete blank. I could not remember for the life of me what happened. I began to get aware again when she was leaning over me trying to unbutton my shirt.

That sobered me up instantly. My thoughts were like a runaway train, wildly leading down my perverted desires. I acted before I could think. I pulled her into a hug to hide my burning face and collect myself again.

"Absolutely not! Dean let go right now this isn't funny!" She squirmed against my body which was not good as that added extra fire to the already running train. I needed to her stop before she felt my excitement. I yelled the only thing I could think of. "Please stay! I don't like sleeping alone not without Paint." Paint....PAINT. All I could think of was my stuffed moose that I slept with at home.

I stammered out a response but in that moment never felt more lame. 'Why am I so lame.' As I wallowed in shame at the secret that I prayed she forgot I told her years ago. She surprised me yet again. "Fine."

The next wave of cloudiness passed over me and I felt drowsy. "Thank you Celeste." Before I could sleep a thought woke me up again. Something that was bothering me for sometime and the liquid courage I had earlier made any hesitation I had about asking go away. "Can we trade?"

Her voice rang out from ahead of me."Dean please go to sleep I am also very tired too." I tightened my grip not wanting to let this opportunity pass. "Fine fine what do you wanna trade?" I felt relief that she was playing along. "What did he do?"

I wanted to know what happened between her and Felix. The wild goose chase I sent him angered me as it proved he did something unforgivable. But as for what, I needed to know.

New chapter! Deans perpsective this time as we begin to unravel the secrets Celeste has been hiding. Please enjoy!
