CHAPTER 35: MONROE VILLAGE 2

How could he not feel sour, especially when that man was definitely provoking him?

But did he have the guts to cut their reunion short?

He was cowardly and wasn't willing to provoke a man with a familiar aura around him that scared him a lot.

He could tell with a glance that the man was dangerous, and that skull tattoo on his neck reminded him of something.

After lifting his heavy niece for a short time, Travis, who didn't want to show it to the lad, maintained a smile on his face as he placed her down.

"I can tell that you have indeed missed me. This uncle of yours missed you too!" Travis mischievously teased as he rubbed the thin dreadlocks hanging on her back.

"Ummm, you don't!" Darica said doubtfully as she stuck her tongue out.

Travis chuckled upon seeing her acting like that. "Okay, okay, okay. Let's leave the hot place. And aren't you going to introduce this young man to me?" he asked as he gave Duke a cold glare.

When Darica heard that, suddenly recalled that she hadn't introduced Duke to her uncle. With her being so happy to see the man after being away for a week, she forgot about that.

Turning to the side to look at Duke, who looked very aggrieved and wronged like a baby, Darica wanted to pinch his cheeks, 'how can he be so cute?'

Travis wanted to roll on the ground with laughter upon seeing how the young lad was acting like some girl. Maybe it wasn't bad after all to let him be with their girl.

'At least she will be the one bullying him and not the other way around!' he approved upon seeing that.

Darica reached out her hand towards Duke, who unabashedly took it in his with a smile blossoming on his face, obviously very happy about what was happening.

"Darling, meet my uncle Travis," she said as she shifted her gaze from Duke to Travis before continuing, "and uncle, that's Duke, my man. So, look kindly upon him."

Upon hearing that, Duke's smile brightened as he looked at Darica with an affectionate gaze that never lied.

Seeing everything was Travis, who felt as if he was being fed dog food. However, the dog food seemed worth it for there were some actions that people do unconsciously that never lie.

And seeing Duke up close, he could tell that the young man was really in love with Darica. And that was what they all wanted to see.

Only if he could tone down his vinegar jar levels, otherwise when he finally meets the whole crew, won't he blow up?

With Darica giving him that warning look, Travis understood that it wasn't the time for him to play around.

There was still time in the future to do that, and without Darica around, it wouldn't be too late for him to know the young lad deeper.

Duke, when facing Travis, politely stretched his other hand towards the elder with a smile on his face and respectfully said, "It's nice meeting you, Uncle Travis."

Travis gave Duke a faint smile and nonchalantly nodded his head, accepting the greeting. "The pleasure is all mine."

Seeing that her uncle was definitely going to cause trouble for Duke, a crazy thought suddenly appeared in her mind. And imagining the future with those two in the village confronting each other, she felt that her vacation this time around would be much better.

"Uncle, help me with my bag. I will show Duke around the village!" Darica suddenly informed her uncle as she dragged Duke away.

Travis looked at his niece and then the thief that Darica had brought home and shook his head, "there is still time. Let's just wait and see!"

With Travis dealing with the bags, Darica was busy showing Duke around with so much enthusiasm.

As the village wasn't big, it didn't take too much time to show around the place.

She had been gone for a week, and yet nearly half of the wall had already been built.

And with the way the construction team was progressing, Darica was confident that the wall would be done in two weeks tops. And that was very good for her, as that would give her more time to concentrate on other pending important issues.

"How long have you been planning this?" Duke asked curiously as he was eager to learn more.

After touring the village, Duke had seen a lot of wonderful things that he was pleased with. Honestly, he wasn't expecting to see something like that at all, and hearing the concept from Darica, he couldn't help but look at her with pride.

It wasn't every person that would think that far and think of such conservational means to achieve a goal.

He had never been in tiny spaces before, since he was used to living it big.

No wonder she said to him that as long as he could manage to live where she was staying, she would welcome him.

"It's been a year, and it had not been easy. It was filled with a lot of ups and downs but I am glad that we are coming to an end of it," with a smile on her face, she happily told the curious Duke.

"It must have been tough for you!" he lamented, as his heart ached as he thought of how much money was spent on getting all of that.

Darica looked at Duke with a soft gaze and responded, "It's all for a good cause and I never regretted it. Pursuing my dreams can never be tough, no matter how tough it might seem."

Duke nodded his head in acknowledgment, for he was learning new things on that day.

"So, will you be staying here from now on?"

He was curious about that, for there was no purpose in building a tiny village and not living in it.

"Umm, I will be and the other vans will be housing other students too," she said as she happily divulged the information as she thought of how happy those kids would be when she announced everything.

Listening to her saying that, Duke, who had been planning to ask about that issue, suddenly found a way to breach into the subject.

"Umm, what kind of students will be eligible for that?"

Darica looked at Duke and found him very cute with the way he was curious about everything and yet taking his time to ask.

However, since she had brought him to the village, it also meant that she wasn't planning on hiding the project in the future.

In just a few months, the village would be known at least to those Royal Rebels members, for they were the intended targets of everything that she was doing.

"Are you sure that you want to know about that?" in a teasing tone, she asked with curled lips.

Her expression clearly showed just how much trouble she was going to cause by answering the question.

Seeing her like that and hearing that question, Duke suddenly started having an awful premonition.

'What am I getting myself into this time?'
