CHAPTER 15 (Catch Me If You Can)

Heart pounding...

Sweat

dripping...

And

silence...

Gunner could not move from where he was hiding. He cannot find a good spot to hide since he was caught off guard.

He saw Ibiza and he managed to keep his eyes from searching for him but he did not expect that the doctor was coming too. Gunner saw Dr. Vega closed his eyes and slowly opened them as if it was a surprise and as if he knew where he was.

Gunner wanted to move his feet but he was numb to do so even though his mind was telling him to run, run as fast as he could, but he just couldn't. It was as if Dr. Vega was hypnotizing him not to move a bit and he just could not wash it off and he wanted to curse.

"How are you doing in here, huh, Gunner," Dr. Vega said as if mocking him and twitched a thin smile on his lips. And before Gunner knew it, Ibiza was already guarding behind him. They are at least twelve meters away from him and he does not know how to escape.

If he ran to Ibiza, he could definitely catch him in no time. He can't fight an animal with that kind of strength. Two, he can't go running around because he will just make a maze and that would trap him instantly. Three if he runs towards Dr. Vega could get rid of them and use the elevator immediately. But he should not underestimate Dr. Vega and he knows that. The man in front of him shows possible in all impossible things.

Gunner did not respond to Dr. Vega, instead, thought of a plan to escape. Gunner heard footsteps coming into him and he did not show that he knows it. He had to move fast.

Gunner saves all of his energy to sprint by a run and he chooses to run towards Dr. Vega and he was sure that Ibiza would be following him in no time.

Every second of Gunner's heart beat made him stronger and his sweat was dripping even though the place was harshly cold.

And before Ibiza could come near him, Gunner sprinted for a run that surprised Ibiza with his sudden action and so did Dr. Vega, which caught him off guard.

Gunner runs at a fast pace that Slasher shows him how, but by putting all of his strength in a one-time case of emergency sprinting. And by that Gunner would expect to pass out in no time off, so he would, at least after escaping this section, have to find a spot to hide and to rest.

He ran passed next to Dr. Vega and whispered.

"Catch me if you can," he whispered in a split second and before Dr. Vega could respond, Gunner was already inside in the elevator and pushes the up button.

The elevator took too long to respond and Ibiza was running in his direction.

One…

Two…

Three…

Gunner stops breathing as he sees Ibiza's hands stretching out to him and that is when the elevator finally closes before Ibiza can land on him.

Gunner took a deep breath and tried catching a lot of air in his lungs. He didn't know if his heartbeat was still normal for a person. All he wished was to escape together with his twin brother in no time in this hell.

"That was close," Gunner said, gasping for breath.

Gunner wiped his sweat away using the back of his hand. "That was close," he said again, not believing that he had managed to escape such rascalous persons.

In no time, the elevator opened and he immediately walked out, but he felt dizzy and maybe that was the result of his sudden action.

He did not take his dinner before heading out there and maybe that is why he is losing so much energy. He needs food or just water to drink just to relieve his weakness. Gunner rests a little while before starting to walk, but he fills his energy in the elevator not to make the elevator go down.

He took his phone out of his belt bag and checked it. The battery of his phone was now in half mode and he started to turn it on. He checked the time and it was already two in the morning. It had been long enough for him to stay there and that was already his situation.

He needs to move and find a spot to rest more. He knows it was impossible but he at least wants to have hope of living.

He tapped his phone and still there was no signal, unlike down there. It was pure bad luck of his running out of power when he was there. He did not have the chance to record all of those scenes and forward the others to a second zmail account. If he needed a signal he should definitely get back there and he had no choice. Besides, he still needed to search for his brother and save him. Even if it means his death.

If this was the game of his life, then he would play it and he promised in his name that there would not be a word of the game over, but if it was, he promised that he would give his might to save his brother.

He walked slowly, not wanting to faint. He heard the elevator go down and it meant he should move fast.

As usual, the hallway was dim and he used his flashlight again.

Every walk that Gunner makes his vision blurry but he must keep going. He taps the video icon on his phone and starts recording.

"It is two o'clock already in the morning and now I am walking out of the place that you would not expect. I didn't have the chance to record it on my phone since it was running out of battery, so I had to charge it to my power bank first, and now here I am walking and my vision is a bit blurry. I need to find a perfect spot to hide and maybe at least change my clothes or just my shirt. Maybe you remember that man named Ibiza we met from the first phase and the one who had been transformed by that doctor named Dr. Vega into an animal. I notice that they can smell where I am, so I need to at least find clothes to change. I need to survive… for you Slasher," he said as he kept recording the hallway where he was walking. He still didn't see a place to hide, since the hallway was not even a crossing to cross into.

Gunner could not remember this hallway but he was sure that there were rooms and intersections.
