*Arranged marriage*Enemies to lovers*Obsessed anti-Hero* “I fucking hate you!” She breathed out the words, slowly and steadily, into his face. Her garlic smelling breath hitting him right in the face, making his face twitch and break posture. “You,” he turned his head away to breathe away from her garlic scented bread, only for her to open her mouth and blow into his direction. “Fucking brat. Did your parents teach you nothing?“ “Pedophile!” She accused to his face. “Did your parents teach you to marry little girls?” Adrian scoffed. “it’s your father who is trying to marry you off. Take it up with him.” She tried to open her mouth, by the looks of it just blow her garlicky breath on him again. Adrian grabbed her jaw, squeezing her cheeks together, he made her shut her mouth. “Listen to me carefully, Brat,” he whispered, bringing his face closer to hers, “You better hope I don’t say yes to this proposal of your father. Because if I do, I will be shipping your ass off to a behaviour correction facility as the first thing.” Ignoring the sneer on her lips, Adrian patted her cheek forcefully, just for fun, before turning around and leaving her alone in the corner. “It’s on,” she vowed, “I’ll fucking set you on fire.” ***** Joyce O’Sullivan, 19 years old, a perfect age to get married and settled according to her family members, according to the church they went to, and according to the whole society that she did not give a damn about. Donut Date - II

"So, I have nothing to do for today?" Adrian repeated. "How is that even possible?"

Natalia looked and sure herself as she repeatedly re-checked the calendar. "Mr Murphy, your brother has been helping a lot which has cleared up your schedule in a way. Your meetings have been divided into two and the rest has already been taken care of by Charles Murphy."

"Has he?" Adrian frowned.

"Yes, sir." Natalia confirmed before she glanced at the clock in the room. "James is going to be in soon. Would you like me to send him over immediately?"

"Yes, thank you Talia." Adrian nodded Before remembering something. "After sending him in, why don't you take the day off?"

"I would love that. Thank you, sir." She did a little offhandish courtesy and realising that she had failed miserably, she gave him a sheepish smile before running out of the office.

He sighed. That was the least of the weird things she had done here.

Adrian drummed his fingers over the old wood table. He had nothing to do and this had been for him to have free time in his life. Office work always demanded his attention but ever since his brother Had stepped up to the responsibility cutout for him, his work had been minimised.

The only thing he could think of was that the underworld would need his attention.

For the first time, he both had no files on his stable. Like they had completely disappeared. Fuck, it annoyed him.

How had all the work nearly disappeared because two of them were doing it?

"You called?" James entered his office and directly took a seat. It was a waste of time to tell him every time to sit when they were going to take a long time to talk things out.

"I did." Adrian nodded slowly. "I have been told that Charles has been taking my brunt of the work. How much have you given him?"

James frowned. "Just the easy work. Something A beginner can do and most of the work given to him was business. The rest were taken care of by the bosses in between. Only the urgent and important matters have reached you."

But certainly, his work should not be entirely over. "I do want to report on what has been taken care of. As much as I appreciate some time off, I do not want to be completely free. Keep that to Sundays minimum."

"Your mother goes to church on Sundays." James reminded.

"Saturdays, then." Adrian changed his words. "Saturdays. Make sure my brother is free on Sundays."

"I will." James chuckled before his face turned serious again. "Have you decided what to answer O'Sullivan's proposal?"

Adrian had thought of her especially with the interaction after the girl. "What are you saying I should say?"

"It's not something we receive a lot from. We can make many alliances on the basis of marriage that would bring us much more. However, when her brother takes over, he can be a good Hedgeman for You." James raised his hands slightly as if he was confused. "Other than that one advantage, I don't see a lot happening here."

"True." He murmured, his fingers casually tapping over the wood of the table.

If he was going to marry someone for an alliance, it should be something that would give him a lot in return rather than take it from him.

Hell, he did not need to marry someone within the country. He could form an alliance with someone who had easy access to the sea route.

And that was the reason why he did not consider or think much of this proposal. Simply, because it did not have much to offer in return.

"Well," James stood up. " if you would excuse me."

"Where are you heading to?"

James faltered slightly, not expecting that question from Adrian . "I have to extract money from someone."

"I shall come too." He stood up before buttoning his suit jacket. Adrian Paused slightly when he found James staring at him a bit incredulously. "What?"

"You want to come with me to extract money from someone? Forgive me, but is that note beneath the title of a boss?"

"Ah," Adrian understood and pointed his hand at his empty desk. "Think about my title next time you distribute work. Now, come on."

Perhaps extracting money would make his day a little bit interesting.
