Philip felt like a beaten dog, like a stray mutt getting wet in the rain. Only, he deserved this fate, unlike the dog. He deserved something much worse.
The mother informed the father of Philip's plans. The old man was surprised, but clearly pleased, although he tried not to show it. Ah yes, the male pride that doesn't allow one to show emotions and admit that he has them at all. A bit like Philip, who, because of male pride, could not admit to those close to him that he was in a relationship with a guy. Male pride or something else?
Damn! Why couldn't he inform his mother and sister that he was dating Frank? Was he that afraid of their reaction? Was he afraid of rejection on their part? Condemnation?
