Sophia stirred in her sleep, gradually waking up to the soft morning light filtering through the curtains.
As she opened her eyes, she found Levon still fast asleep beside her. The clock on the bedside table blinked 6:00 AM, and a gentle breeze played with the curtains, creating a sense of calm in the room.
With a sigh, Sophia reached for her phone on the nightstand. As she unlocked it, she saw a message notification from an unexpected sender –
her ex-lover. Her heart skipped a beat. The message was simple
yet carried a weight of memories and emotions.
"How's your life now? Is he treating you well? Did he hurt you?"
Sophia hesitated, fingers hovering over the screen. She knew she shouldn't reply, but a part of her wanted to share her feelings.
After a moment of contemplation, she began typing.
"He's a nice person, but he says he won't have much time for me."
The reply came swiftly,
"If you want, I can come over when he's gone."
Sophia's heart raced. The temptation to see her past love was strong. She was about to type her agreement when Levon unexpectedly, stirred in his sleep and then woke up, looking at her with surprise.
"I didn't know people's first morning activity was using their phone,"
he chuckled, his tone both teasing and sweet.
Levon got up, picked out his clothes from the wardrobe, and headed to the washroom.
As he got ready, Sophia replied to her ex,
"Come tomorrow. He'll be gone for work."
Levon reappeared from the washroom just as she was finishing the message. He raised an eyebrow, curious about the early morning texting.
Sophia quickly shut her phone and diverted her attention to unpacking her clothes.
Just as she was settling into the new surroundings, Levon's phone rang. Sophia debated whether to pick it up, but curiosity got the better of her, and she answered. A woman's voice greeted her, initially sounding annoyed,
"Who is this?"
Sophia tensed, ready to hang up, but the woman continued more gently,
"I work for Mr. Easton . Is he available?"
Levon walked out of the washroom, noticing Sophia on the phone. Confusion flashed across his face as he mouthed,
"Who's that?"
Sophia covered the phone's microphone and whispered,
"A woman asking for you."
Levon took the phone from her hand, his expression changing from confusion to seriousness. He spoke into the phone,
"Yes?"
The voice on the other end responded,
"It's Lisa, Mr. Easton. I needed to discuss the morning meeting schedule."
Levon nodded, seemingly satisfied with the explanation. Sophia couldn't help but feel a twinge of guilt for eavesdropping.
Levon wrapped up the call and turned to Sophia,
"Work calls can be quite unexpected. I hope it didn't bother you."
Sophia managed a smile,
"No, not at all."
As Levon went back to getting ready, Sophia couldn't shake off the feeling of a shadow lingering in the background. The unexpected messages from
her ex-lover and the mysterious Lisa left her questioning the path she had chosen. Despite the luxurious surroundings, a sense of uncertainty clouded Sophia's thoughts as she contemplated the complexities of the life she was now part of.
