Chapter 41: Exile

Kate and Theo left the Abbey quietly. They packed up their things and loaded them into Jess's car. Margot was still asleep when Kate tried to say goodbye to her so she left her a note by her bedside table. Kate hoped her grandmother didn't think she was abandoning her.

They were leaving as the Sables needed peace and their presence was causing great distress. Kate didn't know when things would get better but she knew it would take time. Grief did not come with a schedule. It was different for everyone.

Kate went to say goodbye to Cathal who followed them out of the house. He stood by the front door as Theo checked the car to see if they left anything. Kate knew they didn't as they barely had any stuff. Nonetheless, she appreciated Theo giving her time with her brother.

"I was hoping this week would've ended on a more pleasant note," Cathal said.
