Chapter 19: All Too Well

Kate never knew how to feel about the fact she looked more like her father than her mother. It was hard to ignore the similarities between them when he was right in front of her. It was like looking at a warped mirror. They were the same but different.

"Hello, Kate," Nicholas greeted her with a smile, showing off his dimples. "We just wanted to come and check on how you were doing."

"We were worried," Cathal added. "How are you doing? Are you well?"

Cathal looked so much like their father. They had both inherited the same dark, wavy hair and hazel eyes. Kate's features were slightly softer with a less pointy noise and her eyes were slightly rounder. Her mother's genetics hadn't been completely absent in making her.

"There was no need to worry," Kate said. "I'm fine."

She tried to fight off the self-consciousness of wearing only a hospital gown. She hadn't even brushed her hair that day.
