Chapter Six .. Jewelry design competition

"Eloise ,this is my contact card and I brought you this too ."Jakes handed her a mini gift box .

"What is this ? "Eloise asked , curiously .

"Open it up first ..!"

"A phone ? You got a phone for me ? "

"Yes Eloise ,I bought it with my savings because you thought me how to save in a pinky box , remember?

My contact is saved on it ,when you get to Texas ,just call me !

Eloise ,I promise you that we will see each other again .

Keep this bracelet and it will always make you remember me Eloise .I have our pics saved on the phone too . Isn't that great ? ..."Jakes grabbed her knuckles tightly.

"Jakes ,you will come back for me right ?

We will make a family together right ?

Please keep your promise and I promise to wait for you Jakes ."Eloise said ,in tears .

"Eloise ,I will come back for you ,I promise you ...!"Jakes assured.

"Jakes ,go and live your life but remember to keep your promise because I won't break mine !"

After their last spent time on the beach at Long Beach City ,the duo made their ways back home .

Eloise and Jakes made calls to each other and texted each other as days and weeks and years went by gradually .

Their relationship grew stronger within some years but suddenly ,Jakes stopped texting Eloise and whenever she tried calling his number ,the call wouldn't go through .

"Eloise my dear , don't tell me you are waiting for that childhood lover of yours to come back for you ?

It's been three years since he texted you and each time you make an effort to call ,he doesn't answer his calls .

How long will you love a man in your childhood memories ?

Those days ,you were all kids and so you didn't notice that you were only building castles in the air !

My dear ,listen to me and stop thinking about him .You are a beautiful girl and well educated , don't let a man's attitude put you off .

You graduated with a distinction in jewelry designing ,you should go out there and look for a job in those prestigious companies and I know they will like your designs !"The old man advised the emotional lady in front of him .

She was tossing her phone up and down all in wait for that one call which could change her life .

"Grandfather ,but he promised to come back for me !

Jakes cannot lie about something like that !

He will surely come back for me grandfather ...!" Eloise burst into tears and embraced her grandfather .

The next morning ,Eloise set out to look for a job with her curriculum vital .She visited more than five companies who loved her jewelry designs but the salary they were offering her wasn't to her expectation .

When coming home in the evening ,she bought her grandfather's medicines and some foodstuff they'd need .

"Grandfather ,I'm home !

I bought some foodstuff to prepare your favourite meal , lobster sauce and rice . I also bought the medicines the doctor prescribed for your health .

It's good you are taking in the food supplements and that way ,you will always stay stronger .

I also paid of the debt that we owed lady Rosa ...!" Eloise unpacked the foodstuff from her bag in the kitchen and headed straight to the hall where her grandfather normally sat and read his news dailies .

"Grandfather ,today was just a bad day for me !

The salaries from the companies I inquired a job from were not up to expectations and you know we will have to cover for alot of expenses like electricity ,water and your medicines ! Don't worry ,I will surely find a job that will pay well grandfather !" Eloise was talking too much that she didn't even realize that her grandfather wasn't in the hall ."Grandfather ? ..."She quickly rushed into his bedroom and saw him lying on the bed .

"Grandfather! ... grandfather get up!! " Eloise shook him continually but he didn't wake up .

Taking his hand and checking his pulse ,Eloise got to know that he was not breathing .

"Oh Grandfather ,why did you have to leave me now ?!

Grandfather!!!.....!

Please wake up !

Who would I cry on ,now ?!

I've got no family except you .. please wake up !"She cried out loud .

Eloise buried Robert Jenkins in the cemetery of Belton . That evening when she got home ,she packed a few staff and headed straight to the airport .

.... LOS ANGELES COUNTY ....

Her flight to Los Angeles County arrived in the morning .

Following her grandfather's last wish to live her dreams ,she intended to forget her past which included Jakes Riddles ."Grandfather ,I have arrived in Los Angeles ,I will work hard and fulfill my dreams now!

Don't worry grandfather ,I won't let all your efforts go in vain !"

Eloise rented an apartment for herself in Beverly Hills and set out to look for a job .

She kept on looking for jobs at various jewelry design companies for about fourteen days but luckily for her ,there was an online competition for jewelry designers and the salary was four thousand dollars a month .

Eloise joined the competition and put out some of her designs there on their platform.

Thirty minutes later ,she received a call and she was told to come for an interview the next day .

"Yess grandfather !! I finally have a job .I will go there tomorrow for an interview and I'm certain that I will get the job ."Eloise cheered up and made sure that she presents nice designs the next day .

The next morning ,Eloise went to the bus station and picked up the Metro Los Angeles bus which was moving from Beverly Hills to Santa Monica .Initially ,she was feeling reluctant to go because Santa Monica reminded her of Jakes but then ,she ignored the thought and focused on getting a job in that company she applied for with her designs .The drive from Beverly Hills to Santa Monica took a duration of about twenty six minutes . "Mmm ! Finally grandfather ,I have arrived at Cooperatives of Jewelry Designs .

I'm sure that I will pass the interview and start working here grandfather .Please bless me grandfather ."Eloise walked into Cooperatives of Jewelry Designs in her black office fitting skirt and a white t-shirt murmuring her grandfather's name .

She wore a black pencil heel which matched her dressing completely . Walking towards the reception ,she held her head up high ."Hello Miss ,I'm Eloise Jenkins .I was called up from this company to come for the interview about the jewelry designs I presented earlier on your platform ." Eloise explained herself to the receptionist who had worn make-up all over her face ."Oh ,so you are Miss Jenkins .This way Miss ,we have waited for your arrival ."The receptionist led Eloise into an office .
