Chapter 133..amputee

"Hi Monalisa! I'm Doctor Anne Shaft .A medical psychologist and I'm here to talk to you .

You can call me Anne so that you don't stress yourself up ."She grabbed a seat next to hers .

"Are you making fun of me ? Look Doctor , I'm not going insane and there's nothing wrong with wanting to walk at the earliest .

I want you to leave now because I don't want to talk to anyone especially someone who will end up telling me that I'm mentally unstable ."Suzzy said tilting her head against the wall in tears .

"I was born without legs ! "The doctor broke her deep secret to Suzzy and this called for her attention .

"Yes ! I was born without legs .In each year ,one in every two thousand children suffer from congenital amputation and I'm of them .

I lost a portion of my limbs at birth and I lost what could cause me to move and feel like a person and they are my legs .

If you'd tilt your head in my direction then you'd know that I'm telling the truth because I'm wearing a prothesis leg which has caused me to stand on my feet .

I grew up living with a rare condition called phocomelia among four siblings of which I'm the third .

Looking at you ,I can see that you really lived your childhood to the fullest but what about me ?

I was an amputee ,I couldn't play or ran errands for my parents like my other siblings could do .

I loved basketball but I had no legs to jump around like my friends at school .I felt inferior because everyone stayed away from me .

They called me cursed and teased me because of my condition until one day my parents finally gave up on me .

They sent me to an orphanage because of the criticism they received from people .

I was only six then but God being so good ,a couple who were desperately looking for a child came by at the orphanage and among all the well-to-do babies and children available ,they adopted me .

They said that if the world doesn't see any perfectness in me then they find me perfect .

They gave me a new name called Anne Shaft instead of my actual name Flores Hill .

They took me away from Canada and sent me to Thailand to start a new life .They gave me a home and taught me how to become and learn to accept myself .

I began wearing prosthetics when I learnt to fully accept the way I am .

I was the best female basketball player right from highschool to college and now I'm a psychologist and I did all this on my prosthetic legs because I accepted myself for who I am .

I know that just like me ,people are experiencing temporary and brief short- like stabs of discomfort and burning sensation in their bodies .

Others are experiencing unbearable and excruciating pain in their life because they were born amputees .

Monalisa ,you were not born an amputee and neither did the doctor say that you are completely paralyzed and you will never be able to walk again .

The doctor said that in about two to three weeks , you will have to use a wheelchair and after that you will be completely alright .

Only a few have the opportunity to hear this and you are one of them .

Your parents are not giving up on you unlike my biological parents who gave up on me .

All they want is for you to put a smile on your beautiful face because you will walk like you used to .

Yes, it's annoying to see yourself so helpless but it's not the end of it ,in a matter of about two to three weeks ,you will be Monalisa Susana Jenkins Riddles .

"How did it go ? "Doctor Madeline Miller asked Doctor Anne Shaft .

"She's okay , don't worry .I left her to think about certain things and I hope that it pushes her to accept the situation for now .

Excuse me ! "Doctor Anne said but was stopped by Doctor Madeline who came in front of her.

"Did you tell her about your story ? I'm sorry Flores .."Doctor Madeline said with teary eyes .

"Sorry ? I don't understand you Doctor Miller and my story is now an inspiration to others .

They say that when you no more cry about your pain then it means that there's no pain you are facing .

So there's no need to be sorry .."Doctor Anne started walking away in tears .

"I could have stopped mum and dad but I didn't .I watched them send you away to the orphanage despite being your elderly sister .

I'm sorry Flores ,please forgive me as well as mum and dad and our brothers .We all need you back home ,I need you .

Mum and dad need you and our brothers also need you ."Doctor Madeline unveiled the relationship between she and Doctor Anne at a distance .

Doctor Anne walked back to her ..

"You could but you didn't because you enjoyed the fact that you'd no longer be linked up with an amputee sister .

You and your whole family were ashamed to have me in your family .Now that I've become human ,you want me back into your family ,huh ?

Why ? Is it because my prosthetic legs look so real now or what ?

Answer me Maddy !

Of course ,you don't have an answer because you were ashamed having me as a sister .

You didn't even have the courage to tell your children and your husband Leonardo Miller that I'm your sister at the East Medical Conference because you were ashamed .

My name is now Anne Shaft and the people who considered me as human and perfect gave me that name .Flores Hill is dead and she had to die to give rise to Anne Shaft .

I love my family so go be with your perfect family and tell your parents and siblings that I want nothing to do with them because I've got a family of my own and I wouldn't abandon them for your family !
