Liam couldn't tell if Lila Kensington had always been this way or if something had happened recently.
Just as he was about to ask, Lila coldly glanced at him and said, "Is there anything else?"
"Oh, no, nothing."
"Then please leave. I need to rest."
Liam, intimidated by her frosty demeanor, despite having many questions, had no choice but to leave her villa reluctantly.
After leaving the villa, Liam didn't dwell on Lila Kensington any longer, because he received a call from Mia.
"Liam, come to the school quickly. Lynn is in some trouble."
"Sigh, I should have called her parents, but given the situation, I thought it was best to call you. Please, help Lynn!"
After hanging up, Liam rushed to Northbridge University. Mia sounded quite anxious, which was unusual for her.
Driving swiftly, Liam arrived at the university in about fifteen minutes.
"Jake, I really don't like you. Stop pestering me!" Lynn looked at the boy in front of her with a face full of annoyance and coldly spoke.
Ever since Lynn enrolled at Northbridge University and became the new campus queen, Jake had been pursuing her. Lynn had no interest in this arrogant rich boy, and she certainly didn't accept Jake's advances.
But Jake was incredibly persistent. After being rejected multiple times, he even found a way to contact Lynn's family, putting her in an awkward situation.
"Lynn, I know I'm not perfect, but that's okay. We can start by getting to know each other. I believe you'll grow to like me!" Jake held a giant bouquet wrapped with ninety-nine roses, looking at Lynn with an earnest expression.
Knowing Lynn's evening class schedule, Jake had arranged the scene early, planning to confess to her again.
The area around the school building was filled with roses, forming a sea of flowers. At the center of this sea was a huge heart made of candles, creating a romantic scene in the evening light.
Several passing girls were stunned by the sight, stopping in their tracks.
"Wow, this sea of roses is so romantic!"
"Yeah, the girl in the middle must feel so lucky to be confessed to like this!"
"Come on, that girl is Lynn, the campus queen. And the guy is Jake. How could Jake be interested in someone like me?"
"Who cares!"
But Lynn didn't care at all about Jake's grand gesture. She coldly said, "Impossible! I will never be with you!"
"Move aside! I'm going home!"
Hearing Lynn trying to leave, Jake panicked and grabbed her hand, pleading, "Please, Lynn, don't go! Just think it over. We really could be good together!"
"Let go! Who gave you the right to touch me?!"Lynn struggled desperately to free herself from Jake's grip, but Jake wasn't about to let go easily. His grip tightened, and despite Lynn's efforts, she couldn't break free.
Just as Lynn was starting to feel hopeless, she saw Liam walking slowly towards them through the crowd. It was as if she had seen a savior.
"Liam, help me!"
Hearing Lynn's cry for help, Jake also turned to see who she was calling. He was furious at the sight.
"Stop! Don't step on my roses!"
Liam stepped right into the sea of roses, creating a path through what had been a beautifully arranged scene. In just a few steps, the romantic atmosphere was completely destroyed.
Jake was so angry he could barely contain himself. He had put in a lot of effort to arrange this sea of roses, even buying out half the roses in Northbridge. Now, all his hard work was being trampled by Liam.
"A little punk like you trying to act romantic?" Liam kicked away a candle, then walked over and pulled Lynn to his side. He calmly said, "Let's go home."
Hearing this, both Lynn and Mia couldn't help but laugh a little. Liam was twenty-six, while Jake was only twenty. Yet, he was calling Jake a little punk?
As they were about to leave, they heard Jake coldly shout:
"Stop right there!"
"I did some digging. Liam, right? You're an Uber driver?"
Liam paused, then turned to look at Jake with a puzzled expression. "Who are you?"
Seeing Liam stop, Jake felt a bit smug, thinking he had scared him.
"I'm Jake, heir to the Northbridge family. People call me Young Master Jake!"
"Oh, never heard of you," Liam said flatly.
Jake was momentarily speechless. He had intended to make a grand impression, but Liam's indifference made him feel like he was punching a pillow.
"Fine! You're just an Uber driver with limited knowledge," Jake finally said after swallowing his pride. "But listen up, kid, Lynn is the girl I have my eyes on, and I will win her heart!"
It was peak time for evening classes, and the crowd around had grown even larger, eager to watch the drama unfold.
"Okay, but what's that got to do with me?" Liam responded nonchalantly.
Jake was fuming, especially with so many people watching.
"Fine! You've got guts, kid!" Jake pointed at Liam, his eyebrows knitted tightly together. "If you've got the guts, stay right here. I'm going to make sure you regret this!"
Those familiar with Jake knew he was genuinely angry this time. He had dropped his gentlemanly facade and was ready to deal with Liam harshly.
