Becoming His Wrong Bride

James does it all. He watches his bride walk down the aisle to him, he lifts her veil, smiles and kisses her when the priest asks him to. All was right. He could practically hear the cha-ching of money as his company was now officially merged with her father's. Maybe he also liked her smile and the sound of her voice. But disaster strikes. Who had he married? When he learns that his good for nothing brother had knocked up the girl he was engaged to, he feels the first stab of betrayal. The sweet, innocent girl he had married instead didn't seem so sweet to him anymore. No amount of money made James swallow this utter humiliation. He seeks revenge. From who else but his wrong bride?

9 - Mrs. Astor

I wake up suddenly when I move over and almost fall off the bed. Sitting up I clutch my head in my hands because it was literally exploding. Looking around I find it totally messed up and then it hits.

"Fuck. What did I just end up doing?" My eyes are just blank and unfocused as I get up.

I was trying to remember how we ended up like that. I should start drinking less now because I get high easily and end up with mistakes like this.

"Am I being too childish?" I ask myself as I look in the mirror and those hungover eyes look back at me with complete apathy.

I look around the house and don't find James anywhere. Did he just leave like that? I don't ponder too much over that thought and get ready for office.

"Good morning, Mrs. Astor." Mr. Elliot greets me when I go out.

"Good morning!" I put a hand over my eyes, the sun was hurting my eyes so much. I'll have to drink coffee as soon as I can.
