LUNCH

"I have to go now, I'll update you soon" Jeffery said as the call ended.

Xavier knew how hard it was for Jeffery to see his parents lying on the hospital bed covered in dried blood.

He didn't wish for something like that to happen to his parents but if an event like that occured Xavier didn't think he would really feel sorry for them.

After everything they had done, they did deserve it.

For his father's invitation to have dinner, Xavier reconsidered and then thought that maybe he should go so he would be able to make his message clear.

Besides there was still one family member that he could tolerate. She had been pleading for him to come visit ever since she found out that he was in Country D.

He picked up his phone as he went through the countless voice notes she left. As he played each one all over he couldn't help but soften his gaze.

She was the only lamb in the presence of the wolves but she was not aware. He didn't want to taint her innocence and so he choose not to tell her anything about their families history, she was the only one in the family who didn't know anything.

After playing the voice notes for a while he then called Jacob in.

"Did he tell you when they were going to start?" Xavier asked with his voice void of emotions.

Jacob didn't know what the man meant and so he gave him a confused look but Xavier didn't find it funny it instead made him angry.

"When will the dinner start?" He asked again but this time his voice was louder than the first and the anger in his tone was evident as he looked up to Jacob.

"6pm sir" Jacob said with his shaky voice as he bent his head down not able to meet Xavier's scorching gaze.

"Tell the driver to get the car ready when it's 5:30." Xavier ordered as he glanced at the wall clock. It was just a few minutes past 1.

"What are you still waiting for, get out" Xavier said in the most rude tone that would make anyone feel offended but Jacob was already used to the man's attitude and so he kindly left to go inform the driver.

The room was cold and the only sound that could be heard was the sound of the keys on the keyboard and the grumbling of his stomach.

He needed to eat but he was too stubborn to listen to his urges and he chooses to continue to work.

When he noticed that he was loosing strength and the fact that he was making lots of mistakes in his work he then grabbed his phone and ordered food.

He cracked his knuckles as he then closed his laptop and placed it at the side. He placed his head on the head rest of his chair as he closed his eyes while he waited for his late lunch.

Abigail was finally able to go have lunch after the two hours talk she had with Mr Lee.

The man had come to see her immediately she left the board meeting, she didn't want to listen to him but he was persistent saying that he needed to talk to her.

Abigail couldn't leave the man hanging and so she agreed to listen to him but after all the talking Abigail was still hellbent on not selling her shares.

She did feel pity for the man who was just following his bosses instructions but Abigail was following her instincts and she didn't think it was wise to sell her shares.

Abigail was now the one with the highest shares and that makes her the CEO. But Abigail didn't study business and so she had to find someone who could do that and that was how Raymond came into the picture.

Raymond and her met during the university and that time he was just a young man but now he had grown and was capable of handling an entire organization and so she only found it right that he should help her manage the company.

A knock on the door broke Abigail from her daydream, her office had tinted glass walls and so she was able to see who was knocking.

She knew he was going to come sooner or later, Abigail's gaze travelled to his hand and she saw the lunch pack and she could only guess that there was something delicious inside.

With hurried steps Abigail opened the door for him to enter.

"Hey" Kai greeted but Abigail didn't respond as she continued to look at the lunch pack.

"Are those for me?" Abigail asked as she reached her hands to grab them without waiting for the man's response.

"They are for us Abi" He said as he followed behind her to the small couch. Abigail began to arrange the plates on the table as she brought out each dish.

"How did you know that I hadn't had lunch?" Abigail asked curiously.

"When I was about to go get lunch I called Rebecca to ask if you were still at the office and she said you had a meeting so I told her to inform me when you're done". Kai stated as he took a sit on the couch.

"Thank you but you don't have to starve yourself because of me" Abigail said as she too took a sit at his side.

"I don't mind Abi" He said and then silence followed as neither of them said anything. Abigail's mind began to wander off to different thoughts when she heard those words and she feared that he was beginning to have feelings for her again and she didn't want that.

Kai who had noticed how she tensed then decided to change the subject and asked.

"I heard that there was a board meeting today, how did it go?" He asked as he began to put a spoon of each dish on her plate.
