First Kiss

Wolves were drawn to the scent their mate emits. As part of the proceedings of the mating match the men where blindfolded to focus their senses in order to attune themselves to the unique scent of their destined mate, with deep breath they released their inhibitions and unleashed their primal instincts.

The women hid in pure concealment while the men guided sorely by their olfactory prowess roamed the forest tracking scents and following the intoxicating aroma that resonated with their souls, I weaved through the labyrinthine woods nestling between the towering trees waiting in bated breath. My heart swelled in a mix of nervousness and trepidation of being sought after by my other half.

It's been four hours since I had been waiting and I was beginning to worry,was I undeserving of the moon goddess favour, maybe the moon goddess had not blessed me with a mate. Just then a rustle was heard followed by a deafening growl. Emerging from the shadows was a wolf with fur which reminded me of chestnuts but the wolf didn't stop directly in front of me but instead walked a few distance to where another she wolf had hidden. I watched them with envy as they stared into each other's eyes with a ravaging desire something I so wanted to desperately experience, with a surge of longing and protectiveness he pulled her gently into his abode, their footsteps echoing as they clung onto each other like two vines entwined until their backs seem to disappear from my view.

There was no point waiting for something that was never going to be, so I got up deciding to head back to the pack house in the comfort of my room,I tried to navigate my way back with my incredibly poor vision and in the process bumped into a hard rock, The pain was instantaneous but when I looked up I froze,it wasn't a hard rock I had bumped into but instead a hard wall of chiseled muscle.

Time seemed to still as we stared at each other,in the moment of revelation a surge of euphoria swept through my entire being tingling with an electrifying nerve, "It was always you" I whispered giving myself over to the epiphany of the rightness of the moment, how many times had I admired him from afar keeping a tight pinch on the girls that he courted over the years,I had fallen in love with him the first time I saw him and it was all making perfect sense now.

The moon goddess had taken our souls and wounded them together,I wasn't sure why the mate bound had manifested now of all times but the moon goddess was filled with infinite wisdom and none dared question her judgment. He basked towards me slow and purposefully, he must have felt it too as he growled in a possessive voice "mate".

In one fluid motion Klaus leaned in closing the distance between us, his lips were surprisingly soft and subtle against mine,his tongue moved like a skilled ballet dancer wanting to explore an unknown world of possibilities and my lips parted granting entrance, warmth blossomed in my chest,I could taste our shared breath,feel the heat of our combined heart beat as kiss grew intense but as soon as we pulled apart cracks began to appear in the enchantment that held us captive,it was like a spell has been washed away, Klaus watched me the whole time not through me but at me, his face had morphed into something which resembled disbelief.

"It is you" he gasped his voice crackling, a panicked look crept into his usually stoic face

"This must be a mistake" he fretted and at that I felt my anger heighten to a boiling point

"The moon goddess makes no mistake Klaus, surely you out everyone should know that" I hissed, guilt smeared his beautiful features but I wasn't done just yet,in fact I was just getting started

" I know you felt it too, the least you can do is acknowledge it" I pointed jabbing a finger at his chest and before you know it I was cursing, swearing and yelling all manner of profanities.

I stopped for a moment to catch my breath, then his husky voice admitted

"You are right, I felt it too but I am to inherit my father's place as beta soon and I need someone strong and charismatic who could can rule side by side with me, that is why this cannot work" he declared

" Someone like Maya's sister" I croaked

" Yes, that is why I most end this before it truly begin"

"Please" I begged

"I am sorry Romona but this is for the best" he whispered his voice thickening with a sorrow of his own but the next words he uttered shattered me till I was nothing but fragmented pieces, scattered across the cold floor of my soul.
