Chapter 26: Too Late for Sorries

It feels like a lifetime since I've seen the inside of my apartment. I don't even bother to turn on the lights as I throw my keys on the table and feel my way to the bedroom. A shower could wait until tomorrow when my eyelids will willingly stay open. I manage to get my heels in the closet when I hear the knock at the door. I ignore it and take off my skirt, throwing it in the hamper with the shirt right behind it. I slip on my favorite giant Monster Fest t-shirt with a yawn. Whoever was out there could wait until tomorrow. Another knock sounds as I plug in my phone. I remembered to lock the door, right? I'm too tired to fend off a serial killer. I nearly jump out of my skin as my phone vibrates on the nightstand. The caller ID shines bright in the darkness and I shake my head as I answer. "What do you want, Fairweather?"

"Where are you?" Saz's voice sounds a little nervous. "Did you make it home?"

"Wouldn't you like to know?"
