The Baxter Building

Two vans left the X-Mansion heading into New York and the Baxter Building. Bruce sat in van 1 giving last-minute instructions to non-combatants. Van 1 was the thinkers' van. These were the people who would convince Reed with words. Van 2 was led by Damian. This was the fighter squad.

Van 1 held Dr. Banner, Dr. Bradley, Doug Ramsey, Karima Shapandar, Mary Jane, Gwen, and Ned. The last three were not supposed to engage but to observe. Dr. Banner and Dr. Bradley would be themselves, while Karima portrayed a trainee S.H.I.E.L.D. agent from the science department.

The Bat-Spider kids were dressed in their old uniforms from Mid-Tech High. Bruce built a photostatic veil into the belt that disguised their faces. Karima was also wearing a photostatic Veil.

"It's important for you to get Dr. Richards to understand how dangerous his device is," Bruce said in the disguise of a senior S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, Hector Hall.

"I understand Bruce..." Bruce gave Dr. Banner a look and Dr. Banner changed his address. "I mean Agent Hall. Dr. Bradley and I will explain the dangers of his research and review the flaws of his designs. By the way, how did you get these?"

"I've helped S.H.I.E.L.D. with cyber security issues concerning Dr. Richards's computers and servers. That's how I came upon these papers," Bruce said.

"You mean you're actually a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent?" Bruce felt more relieved if this mission had an official status with S.H.I.E.L.D...

Bruce ignored Dr. Banner's silly question. Dr. Bradley smirked at Dr. Banner who looked embarrassed.

"I've already sent a cease and desist order to Dr. Richards in the name of S.H.I.E.L.D., we should be able to convince him with a short conversation. All of this depends on you," Bruce looked at the three people responsible for talking sense into Dr. Richards.

Then, he looked at the three Bat-Spiders, "As for you three, your job is to look at him and look scared. You should express your desire not to get blown up or killed by Dr. Richards' machine.

Doug, you'll be a representative of the X-men. Dr. Richards' son and daughter graduated from there. Bring up some nostalgia, make him think of his children and how much the X-men need him to be responsible.

Dr. Richards isn't an evil person or even overly arrogant. His main problem is that he doesn't think when it comes to research. He has high intelligence but low wisdom (See Note 1 in the author's comments below).

Dr. Banner, you understand the consequence of not thinking about the kind of research you are doing. That's the point I need you to make to the man. Dr. Bradley, you have always been a careful scientist. However, due to your partner Professor Horton's eagerness for fame and fortune the Human Torch android was introduced before his design flaw was repaired.

The flaw nearly led to a deadly situation, but you and Dr. Banner both understand the need for patience in science. Please help him understand," Bruce encouraged the two.

Bruce continued having his peace-centered conversation in his van, while in van 2 a very different conversation was led by Damian.

"Listen, Neena, Armando, Bobby, you three, and me and Alfred are the muscles for this operation. If things go south we need to put the Fantastic Four down.

Neena and Laura, your target is Sue Richards. If she gets her force field up before you can take her down she's going to be a headache to take down. You need to take her down before she can react.

Bobby, the Johnny Storm is yours. Ice him before he has the chance to flip the flame!

Alfred will take care of the Thing. Take him down in one punch. If he gets loose there's no telling how much damage he will do. If he damages the machine, there's no telling what will happen!

Armando and I will take care of Dr. Richards. The science team will shut the machine down while we settle the FF. We move with precision and efficiency. Once we get the signal I don't want the FF to have enough time to twitch, understand?

We have four prison pods if we need them. Each of us has photostatic veils built into our belts for disguise purposes. We'll pose as S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. I'll join the other students as a Mid-Tech High student.

At some point, I'll move closer to Dr. Richards ready to take him down. Any questions?" Damian asked.

"How are we going to take down Dr. Richards?" Armondo asked.

"I have a freeze ray, Dr. Richard's stretching ability is weak against the cold. Once he's frozen, I'll throw him in the prison pod," he responded.

"What's with you and Bruce and the freeze gun, that's how he wanted to take down Johnny originally. There's no way your freeze gun could handle Johnny. Bobby didn't respect the freeze gun.

Trust me, my father and I have seen lots of freeze guns, and this one is based on the strongest points of each one. It would be a sinch to take down Johnny," Damian responded.

"Whose your father?" Laura asked.

"Bruce Wayne," Damian answered like it was obvious.

"Bruce? That kid in the other van?" Bobby asked.

"He's not a kid, and you should watch it, he could take you down without breaking a sweat," Damian responded.

"Are you from the future?" Darwin asked.

"No."

"Are you from a different timeline?" Armando asked.

"No."

"Oh, I know, maybe Bruce is from the past and was sent to the future!" Neena threw in her theory.

"No, listen, he got sent through a science portal and it de-aged him. My father's like in his forties!" Damian was annoyed with the questions. He wished his father could grow up already!

Back in Van 1, Bruce was getting equally annoyed by questions about Damian and his parentage.

"So you didn't know he was born and he was raised in a weird ninja environmental cult based around a seemingly immortal and his daughter but then he came to live with you and you accidentally killed his mother?" Ned asked as if he was trying to track all the strange directions of the conversation.

"Yes, Damian was trained as an assassin, and by the time I met him he could kill most of you without trying. Now that I've trained him he could probably kill all of you except for Dr. Banner," Bruce responded.

"Wow, this makes a lot of sense," Dr. Bradley said.

"It does?" Gwen asked.

"Sure, I've heard weirder stories," Dr. Banner spoke up. "My wife got turned into a being called the Harpy, poisoned by the blood of one of my enemies the Abomination. Then she was resurrected and turned into the Red She-Hulk, but after getting shot in the head she became the Red-Harpy," Bruce explained.

"Wow, that is weird, sir," Ned responded.

"Alright, enough chit chat, we're here," Bruce pointed out the window and everyone looked up at the Baxter building.
