So for now, she gave some half-cocked story about her surgery going wrong and an infection. “You know something like seventy percent of doctors leave something behind when they operate. Maybe I have a sponge inside of me that’s now swelling. I definitely have a fever.”
“Hmmm. We can take a look. But if this is too much for me to handle, you’ll go to the ER, yeah?”
Chad met both of their gazes sternly. They stared at one another, and finally, with a resigned sigh, nodded. “If they’ll take me, I’ll go to a manager at this point.”
Chad chuckled lightly. “Not exactly a manager, but we do have the animals. Come in.”
