CHAPTER 20: DON'T HATE THE PLAYER (PART 2)

MAYA.

I took my spot beside Andrew standing a considerable amount of distance from him in front of the screaming audience of crazy racers with my heart crazily beating in my ribcage threatening to claw its way out of my chest.

"What the actual hell am I doing?" I mumbled under my breathe while feigning a confident look as the crowd cheered us on.

"It was a long shot but I knew for sure that if anyone would be crazy enough to take up this challenge it had to be none other than our very own famous hooded rider himself" the announcer said a little too happily and I couldn't help but roll my eyes at his misplaced confidence. Like dude! Take a chill pill, I'm not exactly doing this because I want to.

Andrew looks beyond bewildered as he glanced at Hossein and Min like he didn't actually think I'd accept the challenge to race him. Well that makes two of us buddy! I don't believe I'm doing this either but someone needs to look out for him so he doesn't get himself kidnapped or worse, killed.

While preparations were being made to bring us bikes I fished out my cell phone and decided to make a risky gamble that might just be the reason both of us return home safe to our family tonight.

"50% of my win for safe passage into your territory" I texted not really expecting a reply but my phone chimed almost immediately signifying a text message.

"Deal" it said and I couldn't help but smile at the simple four letter words in relief before shoving my cell phone into my cargo pant zipping it as I got on my bike waiting for the go signal to ride into the night.

Truth is, It didn't matter if I win this race or not I can easily give him that amount from my previous wins without digging into my trust fund.

Yes! I'm a trust fund baby. What about it?

Some time later. (3 hours later).

It's officially party o'clock as Maya downed her drink sighing dreamily when the warm liquid hit her throat as she swallowed big gulps. "This is what dreams is made of" she voiced out looking at the glass of alcohol in her hand.

Maya used to find it funny when people tell her that 'there's no time like the present' but now in this moment she couldn't agree more.

Nothing beats living in the present.

"Nice of you to finally show up. You sure took your sweet time, didn't you?" Sasha sassed as she came to stand by me and I downed the remaining alcohol in my glass purposely smacking my lips which made her raise her brows questionably before saying...

"You knew my coming here would be nothing short of me taking my sweet time and...you're glad I'm here" I added the last part just to provoke her and she made a move to smack me but I ducked successfully laughing at her.

"That darn smart mouth of yours, just you wait! Eric will be here soon enough" Sasha said.

"You know I'm not scared of him. I can take him." I said cracking my knuckles "Speaking of Eric, where is he anyways?" As if on cue we spotted Eric making his way to us with a wide grin.

"There he is!" Sasha said pointing at him.

"Speake of the devil and he shall appear" I said loud enough for Eric to hear as he stopped in front of Sasha and I and he scoffed saying...

"Please, if that were true you'd pop up every time I mention your name" Sasha was thrown into fits of laughter commenting on how Eric was the best match for my smart mouth.

"Oh!!! Homeboy got jokes now, huh? That was a good comeback I won't lie. But you still got a lot to learn." I said patting him on the shoulder lightly and he glared playfully at me.

"Hanging out with you and Sasha all these years has rubbed me the wrong way" Eric said after a while.

"Hey! What did I do?" Exclaimed Sasha pouting like the big baby she is and I gave her back a gentle rub trying to hold my laughter in as she grumble about being innocent and all.

"Here you go" Eric said handing us bottles of sealed liquor "This way you know what you're actually drinking" aww, what a sweetheart. I wonder where he found those.

"So, how was the scream house?" asked Eric.

"It was...therapeutic as always. It's a shame you guys didn't come" i replied smiling brightly as Sasha made a gagging sound.

"Oh stop it!" I pushed her her lightly and Eric laughed.

The scream house is one of the most popular spot with fun activities that only a selected few of us go to pass time fortunately. And that's not just because it cost a lot of cash to be a member.

It's not something that everyone should be interested in I guess.

Eric wouldn't go because it's too noisy and Sasha wouldn't wanna ruin her nails or cute top with sweat because girls shouldn't be seen smashing and breaking junks just to vent their frustrations. There are better ways to do that, like having sex for instance.

Scoff!

They could have just said they were scared.

What a bunch of weaklings!

As you might have already guessed by now. The scream house is where we go to smash and break things to blow off steam. Just like an amusement park but you pay way more cash and get to sign a couple of papers that says you're responsible for your own safety blah blah blah.

I know what you're thinking. And yes, I lied to my friends about where I was earlier but you didn't think I'd actually tell them I was involved in an illegal underground race did you? The scream house might've just been a cover at first for days I actually took parts in racing without being caught but I actually came to love smashing and breaking junks too.

"We should dance!" Sasha shouted dragging Eric and I to the dance floor as they started playing 'In Da Club' by 50 Cent and I laughed out loud as Eric being the goofy ass nerd he is started doing the robot dance and of course i joined him because It'd be weird if he did that alone. Sasha looked over and just shrugged like she was used to our weird and quirky habits and joined In and we started laughing as we danced our hearts out without any care in the world and I was reminded of events from earlier.
