Chapter 16: Meet Me at Our Spot
*Serene POV*
I felt my heart jump into my throat and I struggled to find words. He leaned in and kissed me intensely. I allowed myself to feel the warmth of his lips. I thought about everything that has led me to this point. And, I wanted to be happy this time around.
“Yes, Damon,” I said, stroking his arms and gazing back into his dreamy eyes. “Of course I want to be your girlfriend.”
We let our lips press for a few long seconds again, as the sprinkler continued to spray us, the water making the scene even more romantic.
After we’d finished our shower, Damon walked me home, but I halted three houses before to warn him.
“My stepmom is insane,” I warned him. “I really don’t want her seeing us, because she will do whatever she can to make us miserable. I’m used to it but I don't want her to drag you into the suck as well.”
“I’m sorry, Serene,” he said, with genuine sympathy behind his crystal eyes. “I promise I’ll try to make your life happy.”
