Story 2 Magical Ascension, Chapter 1

After dying of heartbreak after I invested my life's saving into Budlight stock and they destroyed my savings with them wanting to get political and support a trans person, I quickly realized I was reincarnated after my vision went black from my death.

I reincarnated into the worst place of all... I fucking reincarnated into a new modern-like earth that had magic and monsters forced upon it. Now just reincarnating in a modern fantasy world wasn't so bad, I mean YouTube and other goodies were still a thing... But I was reborn within the walled-in city of Columbus Ohio.

Fucking Ohio...

And with magic, monsters, literal abyss demons, and outer god-like entities within the thick fog that filled Ohio's dense primordial forests, this was literally a hellhole of insanity.

I was reborn thankfully with the same name Jake Barriss in a small family that forged and created the magic tools used by the magicians of the world, so money wasn't really an issue, and rather than being a single child in this life, my older parents had adopted three talented older orphaned children over the years that helped in the family business.

Before I was reborn to take over this body after he passed away after going out during a foggy night and an upper-rank monster apparently just slurped up my host body's soul leaving the husk behind for me to take over...

"Jake wake up! You got your awakening test today" I heard my sister that was closer to my age coldly call out. I groaned and buried my face into my pillows to scream out my frustration as after living here on this world I knew all too damned well that today would determine if I actually got a cheat in this new life or if I was just destined to work here at the family magic shop like my sisters had after washing out of the combat sections of the magic academies.

When I got here I was so expectant of getting some kind of cheat... I thought I would manually unlock whatever magic whenever I damn well please, I thought I could level up by killing some monsters so I tried killing some of the shoebox-sized rats that tried to get at our shop's monster stones and other magical materials to make magical tools.

But nothing worked so I had to rely on this coming awakening test to see if my life could be turned around with a cheat. As this world was simply a hell hole.

A loud banging noise rang as my adopted sister kicked open my door and as I peeked my head out from under my pillow I was welcomed to the sight of her leaning over me with her cold icy blue eyes staring down at me. "I am not dragging you out of bed Jake." She said and I just sighed and rolled over onto my back to take in my closest in-age sibling.

"Alice can't you have mercy, I've been studying all damned night for this stupid test today," I grumbled as I took in my adopted sibling that was an ice mage through and through, having morphed her body into the definition of a cold beauty as she had her ice blue eyes, silvery white hair and loved to wear ornate dresses.

Alice just rolled her eyes and then I hurriedly sat up as I could feel her mana pulse with a small silver-blue glyph forming in her hands. "Don't you dare!" I said rolling to the edge of my bed. "If I get sick because you gave me a cold and I miss my awakening how are you going to compensate me, Alice?' I demanded already shivering at the thought of tasting one of Alice's fucking stupidly cold water spells that could and have already had made me sick before.

I only received an eye roll at my dramatic question as even if I missed the whole awakening test it wouldn't be a big deal as our family could pay to get me to get it done in private. But it was a big deal around the world and a rite of passage as all seventeen-year-olds at the beginning of their junior year in high school became awakened and thus could walk the path of the magician with the element they awoke.

"Just hurry up Jake, Taihou has already got your shower started and your breakfast plated." Alice finished with a wry smile and I shuddered at her words.

See, Taihou was a bit crazy... She had a Japanese name because well she actually was Japanese. Until the port city, her family used to live in was attacked by some kind of colossal flying whale. That was actually more than ten times longer than the tallest building in the world.

And the fucking whale literally ate the city she lived in, with her being one of the few survivors simply by merit of her having been rather deep underground at the time as her family home was built into a large hill.

So after being made homeless and orphaned, she was somehow picked up by my family that came to visit the site of the lost city to pick up some resources to be used in our magical shop. And to say the least, she had imprinted on me as I didn't look down on her for missing her awakening with the loss of her home's destruction and loss of family. Oh and by golly gee were the cultivation tropes in this world in full effect in all the best ways...

Shitty young masters getting away with terrible things who came from rich families with powerful family members who could blow up cities even here in America were an issue, as being an arrogant asshole wasn't something regional.

Anyway, I treated my sisters and my older brother with respect when I could. "Alright Alice, I am going, I am going," I muttered tiredly as I rolled out of bed and Alice patted my shoulder with a look of pity as she knew what was going to happen.

Not even three minutes into my shower I heard the bathroom door loudly creak open and a gentle but drawn-out husky voice spoke I tried to drown myself in screaming denial at Taihou's never-ending thirst. "Jake, let me wash your back so the uniform can fit better." She said shamelessly.

"Washing my back won't make my clothes fit better Taihou!" I yelled out exasperated and she giggled with a swift obviously prepared retort already prepared!

"Oh of course it will Deeaaaar..." She said singing out with her admittedly beautiful voice but her following explanation just made me mentally curse for my secret weapon. "If I come in and wipe hmmm..." I could literally see through the foggy glass that separated us from her shuddering form as she continued to speak passionately. "Every inch of your body thoroughly then the missing filth you don't let your adoring sister clean off every day will allow you to fit in your clothes that shrunk in the dryer!" She explained gleefully.

Then as in slow motion, the glass door to the shower opened. As Taihou's black as-night hair came into view and then her well-sculpted pale Asian facial frame with bright bloody red eyes gleefully looked into the shower I destroyed her perverted intentions towards pure and noble self with a squeeze of my water gun that was filled with salt water and dry ice so it came out at biting freezing temperatures that made the seductress screech like she was melting and flee from my holy sanctum.
