The golden sunlight was shining down on Bernier City in the late morning. White clouds drifted slowly across the sky as birds left their nests in search of food. But strangely, the city was in an unusually quiet state. There was no sign of people walking on the streets, no shops were open, and no merchants were out calling for customers as they usually did. All doors and windows of every house were locked and bolted shut. And inside the houses, people talked only in quiet whispers. As it appeared now, Bernier City was no different than a ghost town. A gentle wind blew through houses and made a lonesome whistling noise.
