Chapter 5: Old Mo’s Past

"For you to understand why I am here you must know how I got here I am only telling you once kid so listen up" as my eye stared at Old Mo began telling his story

"It began during the Great War when the Fire Nation was constantly keep attacking during the time I was just a kids but later on they started marshal law in the Earth nation as any one over the age of 17 must join they army but those able to bend must join at age of 13"

"As I was the lucky few who were able to bend I began to train at the age of 13 but not regular training like the the common folk did but hellish training for the next 5 years me and my fellow bender sweated, bleed, and broke every bone in are body and worked so hard are body's still stood tall while we were unconscious"

"We went from happy kids to trained man made weapons each of us becoming an elites of the Earth Nation in 5 years 100 benders went to the camp an only 25 came out from that group that year I was one of the lucky few to even pass as many failed and hade to continue their training"

"For the reason why only 25 passed was because their were very strict regulations to meet and if you did not meet you would have stayed and keep training till the day you pass"

"As my group passed the training we formed an elite group called the Badger mole brigade called after one of the Earth kingdoms natural earth bending animals"

"We we're lead to the front lines we were unstoppable no matter how many Fire nation soldier we would go up against as long as we had each other's back we would crush them as out fame rose we were constantly attacked by assassins"

"Until one day we were surrounded by 100 elite fire nation soldiers and 10 fire nation tanks as we held are ground for as long as we could. Flames kept coming at us from all directions as tanks kept firing holding us at bay not letting us attack only defending"

"Not until our leader of are group left the safety of the dome to go on the offensive destroying half's of the fire tanks with one wave of earth flipping them on their back and hurdling boulders at 20 soldiers killing them in the process only to get burnt alive by the rest of the elite soldiers to give us enough time to attack

"As me and the rest of are group left the dome to avenge are fallen Leader as we created a moved that would move the earth around us sinking the tanks in the ground and closing the side walls around them causing the tanks got crushed in a cube and the soldiers operating were no more we then lead a huge battle lasting hours causing many casualties on are side and killing rest of the elite soldiers

"Only me and 9 other soldiers from our group survived as we thought the battle was over suddenly a second group elite soldiers came out from the shadow's though their number weren't that high only being 20 soldiers but we were still exhausted from out previous battle to the point we were unable to bend"

"As we though all hope was lost for us we saw an old man covered with scars with a we'll toned body manipulating the earth at ease only moving the earth with a his chin causing huge earth spikes to rise from the ground and impelling all the fire nations soldiers the the tip of the spikes could be seen from their mouth as they drowned in their own blood and dying a few seconds later"

"Me and the rest of my group were surprised as we have never seen such high mastery in bending as well as this we soon got closer to the man that saved as we bowed are heads in thanks for the man for he then shacked his hand we then asked "whats your name?" "it's Bumi" he then left from the same directions he came from"

"After we created graves for are comrades and praying for their safe trip to the after life we then left back to are main base with blood coving our body as burns could be seen through are clothing and as we got closer to the camp the leader came out and asked for the report as I explained what happened and how we got surrounded and another group came out and then suddenly being saved by a man called Bumi not leaving one detail out from the event"

"As I finish my explanation I looked at the camp leader waiting for his response" he then looked at me and told me "The man that saved your group is no ordinary man he one of the top Generals in the Earth nation and one of the strongest in benders you will ever meet only beginning in his forties in a class of his own"

"Once I heard those words I was in shock a man that's twice my age was able to manipulate earth with ease only to be a top tier general as I began to ask more information about the man the camp leader could not disclose any more information other then his age, name, and where he is from being from Omashu in the middle of the Earth Nation"

"After my talk with the leader I left and went back to my group and explaining who that man was and that we will have a month free from duty after speaking this words the group became excited for being able to be off for that long as the next day came we said our fair wells as we walk our own journey but Me I was on my way to Omashu to speak with the man that saved me"

"After a week of travel I arrived to my destination were I went to the military camp and asked the location of Bumi's house as I did I found his home though he was not their I waited at the camp and visit every day for the next few days until one day I knocked and heard a familiar voice "who is it"

"After waiting for so long I was excited and the doors opened I saw the exact same man that save me and my group 2 weeks ago. As Bumi "said who are you and what businesses do you have with me" I bowed in-front of him thanking him again for saving the life my comrades and me 2 weeks ago"

"No problem but what reason do you have with me" "I would like you train me and become more stronger" "No" as I heard those words I was in shocked and then asked why?" "I am not a bending teacher I am just a man that saved your and that is all but I do need a sparring partner if your up for the challenge"

"It would be an honor to be your sparring partner as he smiled at me with a crazy look in his eye as I entered his house and fallowing him to his back yard we're he's was in his stance as I got into mine and before I knew it halfway my body was in the ground leaving my upper torso free Bumi then began to rush at me ready to throw a boulder at my face only to stop the bolder in mid air as I look in shock I heard a snicker coming out of Bumi's mouth "your going to be a fun punching bag by the way how long are you going to stay?" "I only got 2 weeks left of my vacation but it took me a week to get here so you have me for a week to punch me around" as I smiled

"That's no good I'll send a letter to your leading officer letting him know I'll be using you for the next 3 months"
