"Hey, what's with the intense stare?" Rex joked, breaking the silence as we walked down the hallway.
I shook my head, attempting to clear my mind. "Nothing, just thinking."
"About what?" he pressed, a playful grin forming on his face.
"Oh, you know, this and that," I deflected, hoping to steer the conversation away.
"Come on, spill it, S.B.," he persisted, his tone playful but curious.
"Rex, it's really nothing worth mentioning," I replied with a smile, hoping he wouldd drop it.
A hint of concern formed on Rex's face and his brow furrowed. "Did Chris say something to you?"
I averted my gaze, quickly responding, "No, he didn't."
I couldn't bring myself to divulge all the things Chris had said about Rex. It just didn't sit right with me. What if Rex's temper flared and he stormed off to confront Chris? I couldn't bear the thought of being the reason they would result to a fist fight. They are already not on good terms as it is.
