Settling in Konoha
"Mmmm, how long did I sleep?" Athena asked herself as she stretched lazily on the bed. Looking around, Athena could tell that she was still in the Tower. Everything around her was still the same, the only difference was that the bed was now completely messed up.
Even though she badly wanted to explore the whole tower right now, she chooses to postpone it to a later date when she could enter with her own body. Athena closed her eyes and when she opened them she was back in her body in Konoha hospital. What she didn't expect was that she wouldn't be starring at the hospital ceiling but would find herself looking right into the eyes of Oyone. Scared, by the unexpected situation, Athena released a sharp scream while jumping backward and Oyone that was caught red-handed stood there, frozen.
"Aaaaaaaaah. Ouch." Athena screamed as she tumbled from the bed.
Seeing, Athena fall from the bed, Oyone snapped out of her frozen state and quickly went to help her.
"Yikes, Athena I'm sorry I didn't expect you to wake up so suddenly. Are you hurt somewhere?" A panicked Oyone said as she went to help and check on Athena.
"What were you doing to me onee-san? I was so scared just now." Athena said with a quivering voice and tears threatening to spill from her eyes. While Athena was indeed scared it didn't warrant such a reaction from her. However, she was a little angry that Oyone made her embarrass herself in such a manner and was going to get back at her.
Seeing how Athena was about to cry, Oyone started to panic more not knowing what to say to calm her.
"Please don't cry. Sister wasn't doing anything bad to you. You were just too cute while sleeping. I…I….I couldn't help it." Oyone said, a blush on her cheeks.
" Eh!" Hearing Oyone answer, Athena was stumped and at loss for words.
'You find me cute while sleeping. Ok, I can understand, I am great after all. But do you need to stick your nose in my face to admire my greatness? Don't tell me I fell on a sis-con, uh?' Athena thought as she looked at Oyone like she was a weirdo.
"Forget it, come here and let me check on you." Oyone said when she saw Athena's gaze, clearly intending to avoid the subject.
"Phew, fortunately, it seems that you are alright. From the look of things, I think you would be able to leave the hospital by tomorrow morning. Rest well." Oyone said and after giving a kiss on Athena's forehead, quickly ran away.
"Aiish, that was weird. I was not even able to get back at her. Hmm, I guess I should be satisfied with her being embarrassed. " Athena muttered as she watched Oyone ran away.
" So, what should I do know?" Athena asked herself.
"Oh, I know. Nothing. When I start moving around I don't know when I would find time to laze around like this without having anything on my mind." Athena muttered as she closed her eyes and go back to sleep.
The rest of the day went without any event worthy of attention happening. The morning of the next day, Athena was allowed to leave just like Oyone has predicted.
" Morning Athena-Chan, so ready to go home?" Oyone asked as she entered the room, a radiant smile on her face. But her smile vanished when she saw that Athena was not as cheerful as she imagined her to be but was lost in her thought.
" Athena-chan, what's up? Is there something bothering you?" Oyone asked as she seat down beside Athena.
"Mhm, I was thinking about mother. Would I able to live a life worthy of her sacrifice." Athena said a tear falling on her cheek.
" Don't worry Athena, I'm sure that whatever you'll do, your mother would be proud of you. Don't worry too much and live your life the best you can." Oyone said and hugged Athena.
"Mhm, thank you nee-san," Athena said as she hugged Oyone back.
"Alright, don't think too much and cheer up. Here, I bring you some clothes, you can go and change in them." Oyone said, pushing the package she came with towards Athena before leaving the room.
After Oyone left the room, Athena quickly changed her clothes, donning the one Oyone brought her. Looking at herself in the mirror, Athena could see a little girl with a stunning and innocent looking face, a petite body with satisfying but limited assets, having much room for development. Her long black hair was tied in a high ponytail. She was wearing a wide-sleeved black kimono that stops right above her knees, an obi was tied around her waist and she has black knee-high socks and simple sandals. She has bandages wrapping both her hands since they were supposed to be injured.
Athena was quite satisfied with how she looked after wearing her new clothes, even though she felt a little cringe for wearing all that black, she didn't have a choice. She knew that Oyone made such a choice in consideration of her circumstances. She would have been grateful if her story was true but since it was just a story she comes with, it was burdensome instead. Making sure she was ready and didn't forget anything, Athena exited the room, bidding farewell to the first place she dwelled in this world.
The moment she exited the room, she was welcomed by a surprised exclamation of Oyone.
"Wow, you are so beautiful Athena-chan. You look really good in those clothes. " Oyone said, sizing up Athena from close.
"Can you stop bothering the kid? Don't you see you are annoying her?" someone said suddenly interrupting Oyone antics.
When Oyone heard the voice, she was like a cat that has its tail stepped on. She jumped and put herself between the man that spoke and Athena.
"What are you doing here?" Oyone asked, clearly displeased.
" I was here to check on the kid. But look like it is useless." The man said as he looked at Athena.
' You are the kid. Your father is the kid. Your family is the kid.' Athena cursed in her mind when she was called a kid by the man for a second time.
If Athena was curious about the man at the beginning, now she was pissed off by him, and she didn't bother to hide her displeasure as she glared at the ninja. It was the first time that someone directly called her a kid and even if it was true she couldn't help but find it displeasing.
"Now that you have seen her, you can return wherever you come from. " Oyone said.
" Yeah, whatever you want. " he turned to leave but not before adding a last warning. " Hey kid you better not do anything funny, I got an eye on you. " the ninja added earning a frown from Athena.
"Who was that guy? " Athena asked when the ninja left.
"Nobody, don't bother with that guy, come we should quickly go home." Oyone said and dragged Athena away.
While traveling Konoha, Athena couldn't help but be impressed by the village. It was a lively place filled with all kinds of people. She would have liked to explore it but Oyone seems to be in a hurry so she could only put it for later.
After walking for 10 or so minutes, they finally reached home. The moment they arrived, Oyone opened the door and smiled.
"Welcome home Athena-chan." Oyone said as Athena entered the place that was going to be her home from now on.
