That poor woman, I thought, looking into her grief stricken eyes. If this was the harbinger of what Lucinda had become, then I was immediately concerned not only for Mia, but for Dominique. Perhaps bringing her on this mission had been a mistake.
I had agreed to bring her with us because honestly, I thought Lucy was just being dramatic. She had always loved to get my attention in unusual ways. Once, when we were young, she had taken all the furniture out of my living room and arranged it on the front lawn, for no reason at all other than to make me laugh. To make me notice her.
