Astral Merchant

Larcen was a man who took on low-paying jobs to earn a living. But he had a goal, and that was to become a diver, an occupation filled with uncertainty and high mortality rate. While it was dangerous, he had two reasons to pursue it. One was for riches and the other was because of the screen that floated in front of him. {System will unlock once the user goes to another world} He expected to get something that could help him evolve but little did he know that he would receive something far more versatile and powerful. Something that had the potential to overthrow the high-humans, the beings who had a hold on most of the Astral Dimensions.

Laws don't exist anymore, Mike.

He kicked the guy away, which didn't really work too well due to his lack of strength but that was enough time for Aria to join in. While she was dealing with the guy, Larcen looked down at his abdominal area to check what had happened and found a small pocket knife lodged at the right side of his abdomen.

He tried to recall how it happened but couldn't as he had never been able to see the guy do it. He did not pull the knife out and just watched the three fight. Mike and Ethan were done with their opponents and turned to look at Aria playing with the last guy.

She evaded all of his attacks and since his only weapon was lodged in Larcen's abdomen, he was helplessly getting kicked, cut, and stabbed. The way she used her knife was precise and always on point.

Whenever she stabbed or slashed, she drew blood, and every time she didn't use the knife, the poor guy would get a kick instead. Two minutes later, Mike stopped Aria by holding her wrist while the guy stumbled, struggling to stay standing.

"That's enough."

Aria nodded grimly and sighed before turning around and walking towards Larcen, "Lily, go get some kind of cloth for me. Also, there is a box which contains antiseptics and pastes in the cupboard. In the room we slept in."

While Lily did that, Mike and Ethan tied the three of them up. Lily brought a clean towel and the medicine box which she handed to Aria, who took them and picked up a small bottle along with an ointment.

She poured a bit of the liquid in the bottle onto the towel and let it get absorbed for a few seconds before applying a bit of the ointment. She then walked behind Larcen.

"This will hurt so keep it down.", she said and without waiting for him to reply, she pulled the knife out and swiftly tied the towel around his waist. She didn't lie, it did hurt a lot but Larcen kept quiet and kept his voice in while she made a few more knots.

"Thanks...", he said weakly and looked at the three guys who were now tied up. He walked towards them to listen to them clearly.

"We just wanted a few SP. Killing people will transfer all the SP they had to you. We thought this would be the best way to get stronger since most people would be asleep at night."

Mike spit on the guy who just spoke before standing up and giving him a hard kick.

"Hey Mike, calm down.", Larcen said as he put his hand on Mike's shoulder.

Mike nodded and took a few deep breaths before speaking, "I mean, how could these assholes attack their own kind when they did nothing to harm them? Can't they just kill those small creatures to make SP? Isn't it fucked up?"

Larcen nodded but his thoughts were completely different.

'If I was in their place, I would do the same. Trusting someone to protect me in the long run is an extremely foolish idea considering the fact that people can change their minds pretty easily. If these guys suddenly decide to kick me out, I wouldn't be able to do a thing other than silently walk away like the people back then.'

He wanted to sigh and curse himself for being so weak but he simply kicked one of the tied up guys to release his frustration, only to feel pain in the area where he was stabbed which prompted him to kick the guy who had stabbed him.

He knew he would get strong soon and all he had to do was stay safe until people got used to the system and the shop. The more people there are, the more people will depend on the shop when everything on the planet was done for.

"Sorry about that, I was just frustrated....", he said to Mike before looking down at the three guys, "Oye you three, tell me how many system points you have right now."

He activated his Merchant's eye and stared at the three screens in front of him while he waited for the answers. He was disappointed when he saw ones and a zero but he decided to keep the act up.

"We don't have anything... we just saw a guy kill someone and exclaim about how he got system points so we decided to try it out.", one of the guys said and Mike cursed.

"You assholes! Why would you do something so idiotic when the fact isn't even confirmed?"

Larcen showed no reaction and stayed silent like the others in the room, waiting for an answer from the guy.

"We we trying to confirm it, you fucking cunt! You should've just stayed still and got stabbed by my brother!", he spat and stared at Mike angrily, who in return, simply glared back.

"Mike, test it out.", said Ethan while Larcen nodded. The girls stayed silent meanwhile.

"Test what?"

"The SP transfer."

Before Mike could retort though, Larcen added, "They tried to kill us, Mike. This world does not have rules anymore and the ones who accept it first will have a higher chance of survival. The more we know about the system, the more ahead we will be and the more opportunities we can grasp. Kill him, Mike."

Mike stared at Larcen, his mind wandering to the time he had killed three armed men to protect his cousins five years earlier. Larcen's tone was exactly like his uncle's back then. He began to hear voices in his head. The words, "Mike! Shoot, you damn bastard!" echoed in his head. Those were the words that pushed him to kill three men.

His vision went blurry as he lost sense of his body, only to feel someone shaking him. He shook his head sideways before seeing who it was. Ethan was holding him from the side while a decapitated head stared at him, his axe lying two feet away from it.
