As the ten captains and the general stormed towards the Blue Flame castle and git locked up in a statement with their opponent. There was movement from another part of the Golden City.

A battalion of a thousand-man army adorned in Black battle armour with a flaming dragon claw as their emblem. These were the Emperor's guards, they are a covet force that only the Emperor and a very few trusted aids know about.

These were his association squad, they are known as the flaming shadows. This battalion is made up of two thousand men only. They were the top expert in the whole Black Dragon Empire.

Their cultivation ranged from peak mid-level Sword Sovereign realm cultivation to the quasi-Sowrd Emperor realm cultivation. They are led by a peak early-stage Sword Emperor realm General.

They are only activated into action by an edict and a black gold order from the empire. They are even tasked to move to secure the throne in case the Emperor goes missing or is unable to function in his role.

They would secure the throne until the Emperor can rule again. There is the last point of defence for the Black Dragon Empire. They operate in the shadows and are where the information-gathering unit for the Emperor.

When the flaming shadows take action, only death and devastation follow. Their movement was so silent that no sound was heard.

To add to their mysteriousness, black energy always surrounds them when they match out. One could only see a dark cloud moving by in the sky. To the very few knowledgeable individuals. Their existence was only a myth and a legend.

This early evening dark rolling clouds could be seen moving towards the Bluflame Palace at a hurried pace. The strange thing was no wind followed this rolling dark cloud.

At the Blue Flame palace, the battle was still ongoing. Hundred and ten thousand flying swords against the Phoenix landing wall. Loud detonationations could be heard as both sides maintained their energy supply to their attack and defence stance

Spirit energy and yun qi were being consumed at a rapid rate but the outcome of the clash was of no benefit to the attackers. As time went by. Some of their short swords began to crack and fall or damaged.

They order their flying swords to keep flying back and attack the wall in succession coursing the whole place to shake incessantly. This caused cracks to appear on the defence wall of the Blue Flame Palace Phoenix landing defensive wall.

The wall was beginning to lose its blue lustre as the amount of yuan qi and spirit energy it consumed was beginning to be exhausted. The continued cracking and repair were tasking on the soldiers.

It was an amazing defence technique, but prolonged sustenance would take a toll on any army no matter the number. They have had to maintain the Phoenix landing defensive wall for almost three days.

The continues clashing of the flying sword against the Blue Flame's defensive wall had damaged almost half of them. Both sides were not having an easy time. This loud battle had also drawn the attention of everyone in the Imperial City.

The street was quiet and the otherwise bustling marketplace was deserted. Everyone was in their homes and too afraid to go out. When two Draco elephants crush the grass suffers.

No one wanted to become an unfortunate victim of a war they know nothing about. When did the enemy attack? Was the Imperial City infiltrated? This was the question on the commoner's minds as they lay curled in their beds.

When did the Blue Flame palace become so strong? How were they able to now defeat the army that laid waste to their Empire twenty years ago?

They knew better than to interfere with what they must not interfere with. They only raised their defensive mechanism to protect their clan and their properties. All disciples were called back home.

Runic defensive lights could be seen if one were to fly over the Imperial City at this moment. It was a colourful scene. Different colours and different guardian beasts could be seen above every establishment and clan that could afford it.

These defensive walls would prevent any damage and shockwave that might spill over from the battle. The poor residents in the outer parts of the Imperial City can only pray that their buildings would not fall on them.

There were visible multiple cracks and some unfortunate souls had their buildings collapse on them. Most of the building still stood and quaked with every tremor from the shock waves from the battle.

After losing more flying swords, the Captains and their General from what was left of the Imperial Dragon Corps army were starting to be worn out. The lack of results further infuriated them.

The wall had indeed lost almost seventy per cent of its lustre, a sign that they can not hold it for much longer. But so were their flying sword being destroyed and their energy is depleted.

They knew it was time to change strategy. The bombardment was abruptly suspended by a signal from their leader. They recalled the rest of the flying swords back to themselves.

The general then issued a challenge to the Blue Flame palace to send their Sword Sovereigns out to battle. If the other side were to accept they would first deal with their Sword Sovereigns and then take the rest of the army down.

Six people in Blue armour flew down from the castle walls at a nod from their Empress. These were the Blue Flame palaces Sword Covereigns, unfortunately for the Imperial Dragon Corps, two of them were quasi-Sword Emperor realm cultivators.

The battle didn't go according to their plan, the Quasi-Sword Emperor realm cultivator from their side was evenly matched by one from the other side. That is not all they even have one no Quasi-Sword Emperor realm cultivator to spare.

The number advantage and higher realm advantage they had countered before issuing the challenge, turned out to be no advantage at all. Shortly after the battle only the General was left.

He was also dispatched after the other Quasi-Sword Emperor realm cultivator joined his companion. As the general knelt with a sword through his chest, seeing his life flashed before his eyes.

The rolling black clouds finally appeared above the battlefield. He was one of the few who knew about the Flame Shadow army. He signed with relief with their arrival.

A black flame shot out of the rolling cloud to strike both of the Quasi-Emperor cultivators flying backwards as they vomited a mouthful of blood and rolled on the ground for a few meters before stabilizing themselves.

Before they stood up from the ground, more flames shot out of the rolling cloud and attacked the other four other Sword Sovereign cultivators from the Blue Flame palace.

They were thrown back forcefully as they landed vomiting mouthfuls of blood. There stood up but the fourth twitched a few times and became stiff as he lost his life from one strike.

Both the Blue Flame palace soldiers and the spectators hiding in the cloud were shocked. How strong are the ones hiding in the Black clouds? To be able to wound. wound to quasi-Sword Emperor realm experts with one attack?

The other party must be a Sword Emperor realm expert. How lofty is a Sword Emperor Relm expert? Most Empires have one and they are considered powerful powers that must not be trifled with.
