Generous Treatment

Bai Hu sat there for a few hours.

Grumble.

He stood and stretched out his limbs when he felt hunger encroach upon him. It seems his first attempt to sense qi was a failure as he could not feel anything in the air. He walked out of his cabin and was surprised to find a rectangular piece of jade along with a pouch floating in the air.

"That must be a message jade along with a spatial pouch!"

Who would leave such a thing? He looked around and saw no one present and took both items before going back inside. And that's when he remembered that Rue Ming, the one who brought him here, had given him a pouch before leaving.

"Oh right! There's also the pouch Rue Ming gave me!"

He laid the things on the bed and looked at them one by one.

The first thing he looked at was the message jade. He picked up the jade and held it up, making it touch his forehead. Because he couldn't use divine sense due to having a non-existent cultivation base, he had to concentrate by placing the jade on the area closest to the brain.

A faint light shone from the slip and a series of words appeared in Bai Hu's head. After a moment he opened his eyes.

Through the jade slip, he found that this was something Elder Shui, that man who tested his spiritual roots, left behind for him.

"I've been registered into the Spirit Sect?"

He opened the pouch and found a space of 2 cubic meters along with 3 pill bottles, a bronze badge, and 2 sets of uniforms. According to the jade slip, the badge allows him to pick out 3 yellow ranked techniques or 1 black ranked technique from a pagoda on another mountain.

He then checked the pill bottles and found labels near each one. There were 25 fasting pills in one, 10 qi marrow pills in another, and 5 qi elixir pills in the last bottle.

The qi marrow pills can cleanse his body of impurities, allowing him a better chance at sensing qi. The qi elixir pills can boost cultivation speed by many times. Finally, the fasting pills can allow him to go long periods without food or drink.

Next he opened Rue Ming's pouch and was immediately surprised by the amount of space inside the pouch. Elder Shui's pouch only had a space of 2 cubic meters while Rue Ming's has a space of 10 cubic meters!

Rue Ming's storage pouch contained 10 more qi marrow pills, 5 more qi elixir pills, 5 qi refining pills, another bronze badge, and 10 spirit stones!

The qi refining pills help purify one's qi, thereby making it denser and more abundant. It's a pill that is in high demand due to its effectiveness to qi refining cultivators. It's said that the pill is so hard to come by because it is constantly out of stock!

Furthermore, there are 10 spirit stones in the pouch! If exchanged into mortal currency, a single spirit stone is worth over a hundred gold coins! Such wealth would take at least a year to accumulate and Rue Ming had been generous enough to give him a few as soon as he got into the sect.

He was ecstatic by the treatment he was receiving as soon as he joined the sect, but soon cleared his head of these distracting thoughts. It is better to be cautious than arrogant or he might perish due to it.

He sat in a lotus position once more and popped a fasting pill into his mouth. It melted instantly into a soothing energy which traveled to his stomach and Bai Hu felt his hunger and thirst go away. He laid the bottles containing the qi marrow pills in front of him.

Instead of consuming the pills one by one, Bai Hu was preparing himself to consume 10 at a time. This will allow the medical properties to stimulate his body and increase the effects of the pills. This will also, however, increase the amount of pain he feels during which the medical effects are working. He downed a whole bottle at once.

"Ugh!"

An intense and violent energy flowed through his meridians. His skin crawled as his veins popped out. He grit his teeth to suppress the pain he felt in his body.

If one were to describe what he felt, then it would be like feeling a million insects were biting every part of his body. His skin, his muscles, even his bones were not spared.

"Ahh!"

Pain wrecked his body for 3 whole hours before the effects subsided. A layer of impurities covered Bai Hu's body from head to toe in the form of a black gooey substance. Once he gained full cognitive ability, he forcefully pushed his lethargic thoughts away and steeled himself for more.

"Again!"

He consumed the remaining qi marrow pills all at once. This time however, the effects were clearly not as effective as the first. It lasted another 2 hours and Bai Hu was able to grit his teeth and get through it without a sound.

Once the effects subsided, he stood and stretched his sore limbs. A disgusting layer of impurities covered him and gave off a putrid stench. He took off his clothes and walked to the bathroom to his left.

There was a wooden tub in the corner of the small room with a level on the wall next to it. Bai Hu flipped the switch after finding no way to get hot water and was surprised to see the tub magically start to fill with steaming hot water. There were no openings nor pipes to direct the water there and no visible heating mechanisms so he hurriedly flipped the switch again to investigate.

Bai Hu pushed the tub to the side and was surprised to see red and blue light shine from under the tub. A foot deep hole was revealed and Bai Hu was able to clearly see exactly what provided hot water to the tub.

Dozens of shiny stones could be seen arranged in a circular pattern on top of complex runic inscriptions.

"Elemental spirit stones! As expected of a large sect. To use precious attributed spirit stones to power a bathtub"

He counted 26 water spirit stones and 26 fire spirit stones in total, each set in a socket that fit the stone perfectly. 8 of those sockets were empty and the 26th spirit stone for each attribute was slightly dimmer than the rest. A layer of dust signified that this had been here for years and would last a long time.

Bai Hu felt the pure energy contained in those spirit stones and didn't want to let them go, but he also didn't want to get in trouble. So, he cautiously conducted a few experiments.

First, he set the tub back into place and flipped the lever to fill the tub. After he cleaned himself up, Bai Hu noticed a small button right next to the lever. Pressing it made the water in the tub slowly disappear.

He then pushed the tub aside again and saw that the 26th spirit stones were a bit dimmer than before. He estimated that a single pair can last 10 uses before disintegrating and there were no visible alarm systems for if anyone took a few of the spirit stones.

With a grim expression, he steeled himself and reached a hand forward.
