I blinked at his statement as he gently rubbed my back up and down, his fingers dancing over my skin, causing me to break out into goosebumps.
"You're not mad?" I asked, a moment of vulnerability coming over me at the idea that this man might get up and walk away.
That I might never see him again.
"Of course not," he muttered softly, taking my cheeks in both his hands and pulling me toward him so that he could kiss me on the lips. "My species don't really share will, but that doesn't mean that I can't learn. There must be a reason why you were given so many mates."
"I had no idea," I admitted with a shrug. "I thought it might have something to do with the fact that I'm a prey species; we all seem to have multiple mates. At least, as far as I can tell."
