CHAPTER 14

Finals were coming fast. Students were working harder than ever. I mean, no one wants to repeat and everyone wants to go to a good college. The usually under used library were now hotspots for everyone. We were all on our toes. Autumn was not different from the others. Sure she trained herself regularly on magic, she still studied to become valedictorian.

And then, the time came. Students were anxious and nervous to finally sit for the exams they've prepared for in such a long time. No doubt, they all thought they were bright, the nerds most especially. The jocks didn't have much to worry about since they were going to sport schools. It still didn't make them relent. So, the battle began when they were all told to pick up their pencils and start.

🍁 🍁 🍁

It was finally over. They all rushed out of the school with joy knowing that this was the last high school exam to write. They left the school, hanging out with friends and discussing the exams.

The decallions and Autumn went to their favorite restaurant; Burger Kings, and grabbed their usual seats. Audrey and Autumn, although both from the magic world, were still friends with the others and agreed to not leak their secrets to the rest. By 5:30, they went their separate ways.

Autumn walked home, even though she was old enough to drive, had her driver's license and a car. Molly had told her so many times to use the car but she refused.

Just as she walked in, she heard Lena's voice. She walked closer to the living room and spotted her, dressed in her training suit as always.

"Hey Lena."

"Autumn. I see you're getting good at closing your mind link but try to keep it open from time to time so you don't spook people." Autumn smirked and gave her a 'really ' look.

"Any ways, I'm here to inform you that training starts immediately after your graduation. I don't know if you... you know... want to go to prom?"

"Nope, I'm not going."

"Well, why not?" Molly spoke up. "Come on, it's the last party of high school."

"Yeah, I'm not."

"You should go. Since you don't like seeing James, you could be out of the house before he comes over."

"Absolutely not! James is never stepping foot in this house ever again. He comes here and that will be the last time you see me."

Autumn stormed up the stairs, walked into her room and slammed the door shut. Moments later, the door opened softly.

"No mom, I don't want to hear it. James is a bad person. How can you not see it?"

"He takes care of me. I love him."

"Well, isn't that great. I'm trying to warn you so you don't get into trouble and you say you love him. Fantastic. Don't say I didn't warn you when it comes crashing down. Seriously, mom, he's bad for you."

"How do you even know he is bad?"

"I had a dream, a vision. He killed me."

Molly raised an eyebrow in disbelieve. "What?"

"I'm being serious, mom. In that vision, he killed me with a knife and he had the Zuka sign on his neck."

"Look, Autumn, he doesn't have a tattoo. In fact he hates them. It was just a nightmare. Your mind made that up because you already programmed it to hate James, but he is sweet and kind and not a killer at all."

"I'm telling you, don't trust him."

"Autumn, relax. You are saying all this because you don't like him." She ran her hands through her hair and sighed. "You know what, fine. He won't come back into the house. Better now?"

"Not just that, don't go near him, don't talk to him and please break up with him."

"Wow, now who is the mum?" Autumn glared at her.

"Fine, I've heard you." she lifted up her hands in mock surrender.

Autumn breathed out a sigh of relief.

"Thanks mum. And I'm sorry for yelling at you. I'm just really worried."

"It's okay. I know that you're just watching out for me. I understand."

She pulled Molly into a hug. They stayed like that for a few minutes before Autumn pulled away. Molly walked to the door while Autumn sat on her bed.

"Good night, Autumn." Autumn looked up.

"Good night, mum."

🍁 🍁 🍁

I packed my bag for the road. Since today was prom and I wasn't going, Lena offered to train me for the day. As I packed all I would be needing like some snacks, my necklace, spell book, sword, note pad and other training materials, I spoke with Audrey on the phone. Apparently, all the decallions had dates and wanted to go to prom.

"Why aren't you coming again?"

"I've said it before, I'm going for trainings with Lena."

"And you couldn't take a day off for prom?"

"I didn't have a date and I don't want to be the third wheeler in the group."

"But, you'll be missing the last high school party."

"Uhmm, I think saving the world is more important than some high school party."

"It's just a day."

"Evil don't take days off."

"Suit yourself dude."

"Enjoy the party weirdo."

"Oh, I will. Have a nice day sweating and panting like a dog with dirt all over your face."

"Nerd!" I yelled

I heard her laugh before she hung up.

"Autumn, Lena is here!"

"I'll be there in a second. Okay, cheerios, spell book, necklace, sword, bow and arrow and most importantly, cup cakes, all check."

"Autumn!"

"Coming! All ready, let's go."

I run down the stairs breathing loudly.

"Why did you run down the stairs?" Lena and Molly were looking at me like I had grown another head.

"Because I was in a hurry, obviously."

"Could have just teleported. Much easier that way." Lena shrugged.

"Oh man. I totally forgot about that."

Molly shook her head. " Took the most important thing?"

"Yup. Ready to go."

"Ok, have fun."

I and Lena walked out of the house and got into Lena's car.

"Just curious," Lena started as she reversed out of the driveway.

"Yeah,"

"What is the most important thing?"

"Why don't you guess?" I said grinning mischievously.

"Your sword," I shook my head.

"Nope."

"Well, what is it?" She gritted through her teeth quite frustrated.

"Cupcakes." I said wiggling my eye brows and grinning.

"Of course." She sighed with mock disappointment.

"Hey! I'll have you know that cupcakes are vital for trainings."

"Uh-uh. Yeah, you are totally right."

"Alright, enough sarcasm for one day."

"Yeah, yeah, I agree."

I rolled my eyes hiding my smile behind my curtain of hair.

'Oh, these is going to be a long ride.' Fofo whispered.

Long awaited Chapter 14.
