The vatakku camp was in ruins. The fire died down with only ashes remaining. The body of the fallen soldiers is piled up in two places. The vatakku on one side and the empire’s on the left. Tom lost around ten comrades in the fight. He stood straight in the middle of the camp watching the soldiers rummage through the dead bodies for any family keepsake to return to the dead’s families.
His helmet was taken off. A look of exhaustion was etched on his face but he did not sit or complain about it. His opponent was stronger almost on par with him.
He sighed looking at the commander’s body kept in a separate place a bit far from the vatakku dead soldiers. ‘If these were normal times. I would be having a hard time defeating him alone.’
They did not touch the vatakku bodies much. Except to check for any information about the camps. Nothing was found just keepsakes. Tom did not allow the soldiers to touch those. Rather if anything as such was found. They are to be kept with the body.
