Tonight We Dine In Hell

Flying through space, Diana was occupied thinking about the the potential ramifications this new revelation would bring with it.

'On the one hand, Cedric has been chosen by an Archon to become his student. This means that Cedric's a one of a kind genius that should be treasured by the federation. But…'

A countless amount of thoughts ran through Diana's head as she flew through the eerily silent void, the stars around her shining like beacons of hope at the end of the tunnel, and yet. In her mind, the idea of hope was beginning to fade away.

'If those old bastards at the senate find out about Cedric being a category 3 infected. They will surely capture him and begin their inhumane experiments on the child. Even I won't be able to stop them with my meager strength.'

As Diana was now passing through the edge of the federation's sectors, she stumbled upon a strange scene.

Scattered in front of her, were a couple dozen ships the size of the Star-Shatter. Explosions rocking the space around her with the sheer magnitude of their shockwaves.

'Seems like the Devourers are as restless as always. I'm counting at least 30 star destroyer grade vessels… Even a Hollow planet usually requires two at most.'

Arriving beside one of the metallic behemoths, Diana's request for entry is permitted as she swiftly heads to the top floor of the military space craft.

A metallic door slides open to reveal the cockpit and inside were two immortals just like her, together with a couple high ranking void knight officers.

They all stood on the fringes of a large table outlining a neon blue colored hologram of the battlefield.

Stepping to stand beside them, Diana's greeting was cut short by the voice of the fleet's commander speaking through their communication devices.

"What is going on he-"

"Reporting, Star five to star seven. Our group has engaged in combat with the enemy. It appears to be just as you've all been speculating. There are currently five Devourers keeping our forces at bay. All of them on the level of strength equivalent to a federation's immortal."

Diana felt her entire body go numb at the revelation. Seeing at least one immortal grade Devourer was already a story to be told throughout the generations.

'Five at once? Without a Hollow planet to accompany them?'

Diana turns to the other immortals standing beside the large tale, One of them she recognized.

"Steelscale!"

The seemingly ordinary middle aged man nodded with a frown covering his face. Moving over to stand next to Diana.

The man with ashen hair, with a body covered in scales and scars was known as one of the most fearsome immortals of her generation. Able to endure even the most fearsome attacks from other immortals.

"I wish I could say it is a pleasant surprise, Miss Silver. But as you can see, our hands are tied for the moment. None of the immortals present wish to confront these Devourers as even one of them could take on three immortals each."

Diana, Surprised by the revelation, inquired for further explanation, Steelscale turned to look at the images being displayed on the hologram, depicting five human looking beings with the only feature giving them away being the dragon-like tails jutting off of their backs.

"I fought one a couple hundred years back. Together with two other Immortals, we barely managed to take it down. I was the only one left surviving. Even then, I was already at death's door."

"So all of these scars you didn't wish to talk about, they're from-"

"Yes. Indeed."

Finally beginning to understand the gravity of the situation, Diana's face turns serious as she begins formulating a plan.

'They may reach Cedric and the other trainees easily if we don't take them down now. I apologize, Archon. Yet this is still a duty I must fulfill.'

Turning to the commander of the fleet, a fellow immortal, Diana interrupts his speech.

"And so, We must dela-"

"Excuse me. How many immortals do we have on this fleet. I would assume you'd have already lead out a strike if each vessel contained an immortal as they usually should."

Looking at the commander, Diana could see that he was already an old man when he achieved his immortality and advanced to rank 8

'I Fucking hate these arrogant cunts. Try pulling something, I'll snap your throat.'

With a furious glint in his eye, the immortal turns to the source of the arrogant voice. There, he sees a young woman with silver colored hair looking at him dead in the eye.

'An immortal. Hmph, impudent youth.'

"Young lady. You should better choose your words when speaking to me. I was already an immortal back when you were wearing your father's shirt as diapers."

Satisfied with his reply the old man thought 'That should put you in your place. Little wor-.'

Unable to think properly, the old immortal is surprised to feel his breathing cut short by the immense aura leaking out of Diana.

"It is brigadier general to you, old man. You better answer my previous question fast, I'm feeling a bit grumpy as of late. I wouldn't mind to gift your head to those Devourers in exchange for them letting us live for another day. Now. How many of us are here?"

'This aura! Madam S-s-silver? Isn't she supposed to be on the Star-Shatter!?'

"M-Madam Silver! There's only ten of us stationed on these ships. The Devourers appear to be using a radial jamming device. We cannot communicate with the federation, nor can we teleport in or out of the ships."

As Diana hears the grim news, she sighs tiredly.

'Well, Let us hope I can at least take one of them out alone. I'd prefer a battle to the death than to be in the presence of that Archon ever again.'

Steeling her gaze, Diana decides their next plan of action.

"All immortals with me. Officers, send a scout back to the federation. Our mission is to hold out until reinforcements arrive. If you do everything as I say, we may even kill these ugly sons of bitches."

Steelscale, stands with an unwavering gaze next to Diana as he proclaims to the worried officers: "Sharpen your minds and polish your blades lads. For tonight, we dine in hell."
