Chapter 22: Han Min-Jun’s Training (4)

Being surrounded by giant bookshelves with an enormous amount of books, I couldn't help being so happy! When was the last time I'm able to enter such place? I couldn't even remember it! Ethan did not go in with me and instead said "I'll be waiting outside" before closing the doors.

As I was left alone, I took this chance to take a deep breath of the scent in this place, it felt very peaceful…

Clasping my hand I muttered "Now, let's see if I can find it here" saying that I walked to a certain isle but did not found the book I was looking for which led me to confusion. The library I previously went in had it though empty.

Rubbing my chin I pondered and closed my eyes, 'There's no way they won't have that book' I thought and begun thinking of many possibilities where the book might be. After some contemplation, I thought of the most cliche thing and started pulling random books, searching for a secret passage or something.

This went on and on until an hour passed but there was still no sign of it, even so I did not give up and was actually more patient than ever.

[Judge "Ares" is bored and asks "What are you so eagerly looking for that even if hours passed you wouldn't give up? Hm?"]

"You'll see" That were the only words I spoke.

Minutes later I was thinking whether I should continue tomorrow or not but suddenly felt something, furrowing my eyebrows I held the book and pulled it, then, the sound of heavy things moving sounded along with some engines.

Crack!

Slowly, the bookshelf in front of me was suddenly thrust into the wall behind it before it slid to the side, then, what was revealed was a single book on top of a table. Seeing the black book with golden lines and a lock on it, my eyes shone gold and as if unconscious, my body moved on it's own and walked towards it. I halted before it and reached out my hand, taking a deep breath i took the book and held it in my arms. Then, a gust of wind along with blinding lights appeared as I heard the sound of the lock being opened. The moment the blinding lights disappeared I found that the book was unlocked and I couldn't help being surprised.

[Judge "Iris" frowns and says "I don't like this book, it gives an ominous feeling"]

[Judge "Dionysus" nods and says "It's not just you who feels it but so am I"]

Seeing the messages above me, I also frowned and thought 'Is this the book?'

Bang!

Suddenly I heard the door slamming and I immediately hid the book underneath my robe. I then looked at the missing bookshelf and prayed that it will close. As if hearing my prayers, the bookshelf indeed moved back to it's spot just in time as Ethan arrived from the corner.

"Are you alright? What happened?!" Ethan asked anxiously. Humming I said "I'm fine", then, I feigned ignorance and raised one eyebrow as I asked "What's wrong?"

This time it was Ethan's turn to be confused as he asked "Didn't you sensed it?"

"Sensed what?" I asked back and Ethan was about to say 'The large amount of mana that appeared!' but then remembered that I didn't have any mana and so shut his mouth. I ignored his gaze and yawned as I said "I'm sleepy"

"Ah? Yes!" Ethan made way and I walked out of the library. Ethan was hesitant as he looked at where I am but found that everything was perfectly and so also left the library.

In my room I heaved a sigh of relief as I took off my robe and looked at the book in my hand. I saw that it was covered in dust and so blew it off. Groping the book I felt some tingling feeling running down my veins which made me gulped.

I took a deep breath before opening it. On the front page, only the title was written with no signs of the name of the writer. I've then read it word by word, "The 'Fallen' [Chaos]" I frowned as I read it and couldn't help falling into contemplation. 'What exactly is Fallen? And, what did it mean by [Chaos]?'

Just as I was about to turn the page I stopped, I sweated a little bit and knew that if I turn this page, then there's no going back now…

I'm certain that something lies here that needs to be found by me, but it is also something that would change my entire life. Danger will always roam around me and death will also linger in me. I know this very well especially the saying that 'Some things are better off left unresolved'.

But…

Somehow, I have this feeling that this is something for me to be seen. With that thought I closed my eyes and took a deep breath before opening it!

Then, that was a decision that I cannot figure out whether I regret it or not.

At Nathan Baron's office, he sat on the chair restlessly, 'Could it be- that [Guide] found 'that'?' His mind became uneasy as moments ago, he felt a surge of powerful mana coming from a certain direction, and he knows that only one 'thing' could do that!

But that's impossible! Just because that person is a [Guide] doesn't mean that he can unlock that book so easily! The book can only be opened by the book itself! It will decide whether it will show the person it's content or not and for a million years! It! Has! Never! Been! Opened!!!

Nathan felt as if it a miracle, not only is this person a [Guide] but he can also open the forbidden book! Nathan held his thumping heart and couldn't help grinning madly.

"Finally! There's something that I can show off to those bastards! And I won't let them take it away!" Shouting that he laughed and laughed.

Unbeknownst to him, Ethan was outside the room and heard everything he said, and what I mean heard is everything, everything, after all, Ethan has actually two abilities that he hid from his father, his ability to read and listen to minds…

And now, he finally knows some of it that his father had been keeping a secret to him after all this years. So that was the immense mana he felt, it was coming from a book! And probably, that [Guide], Zero, took it.

Countless of information was finally etched into Ethan's mind, taking a deep breath, he left silently.

Morning came and the three of them are back in the laboratory. I said "Go pick out your stuff" Han Min-Jun nodded and begun searching for different materials. Meanwhile, I spoke and said to Ethan, "A day had passed, what's your decision now?" Ethan flinched, then, with a deep breath he looked at me with determination in his eyes, "I accept your offer sir! But may I ask, what's in it for you?" Hearing this I couldn't help smiling, satisfied and thought 'At least he is not a brainless NPC'

Facing him took off my mask and he widened his eyes, with a smile I said "I want to have your family's support, along with the permission to your library and laboratory for eternity" Ethan widened his eyes at my words before bowing and said "I accept!"

"Good" I said and reached out my hand, I then said "Place a life contract with me" Ethan was stunned and froze. A life contract is a contract that cannot be broken, there is also known as a mana contract but that only implies to the contract with the punishment of losing mana once the contract was broken, but life contract is different, the punishment for breaking the contract will not be mana but life!

I saw all his thoughts in his eyes and said "You wouldn't think that I would suggest a mana contract when you know yourself that I have no mana don't you?" Realizing this fact Ethan stumbled and blankly nodded.

Ethan stared at my outstretched hand and after a long time, he sighed and took my hand, then, a spell was cast as black lights surrounded us, then, it disappeared into our bodies. After that we said our deal and our advantage and disadvantage before we knew that the contract had already been fulfilled

Now that the contract is over I retracted my hand and said "It's a pleasure working with you, Ethan Baron" Ethan smiled bitterly and said "I can say the same thing to you, no, actually it's an honor for me to be able to work with you, Zero"

Clank!

The pile of woods and metals were placed on a table and Han Min-Jun said "A little help here!" Chuckling I walked towards him and said to Ethan "You may leave now, I'll inform you the plan later on" Ethan reluctantly nodded before closing the door and leaving.

Now that I and Han Min-Jun were left alone I put back my mask and stretched my limbs, then I said with a grin, "So, Min-Jun, how about we start working on your invention now?"
