The Magic

Kai has already closed all the cracks that Phil had known about. The remaining bit of work is to create a tracing technology that will help the world to track and close these dangerous cracks.

In the next couple of weeks Kai spent time with his family inside his space. They train, play and use the library to learn fun new things. 

"Dad, can I have my own room?" Vania asked her father, he looked at his daughters fondly. 

"Of course you can." Kai smiled but he is wondering why his daughter wants to stay by herself when she is only three. But looking closely she can see that his children are not growing like most children. They eat spirit food and stay in a place field with spirit energy. 

Lately the family of three has taken up baking. Kai doesn't particularly like sweets but Vania has a liking for chocolate cake while Nate likes banana cake. The items grown in space has spiritual energy so even though Kai is not skilled in cooking spirit food, it is delicious as long as it cooked well.

However, Kai is not even good at making an egg all of a sudden and the cakes always come out bad making him frown endlessly. Even when he retraced his steps, he is unable to find the problem.

The twins laughed at him as he left the kitchen looking defeated. "Daddy don't be sad." Vania looks at him with her large brown eyes.

Kai picked her up and walked towards the outside, he will let the servants do the baking.

"Don't worry baby, daddy is not sad anymore. But daddy couldn't made your cake, are you not sad?" he asked her but she shook her head firmly. 

"I asked Nanny to make the cakes before daddy started." She said proudly. Kai widened his eyes. 

"You didn't think daddy will succeed?" 

"I wanted more cake." She admitted looking down like she knows she did something wrong. He couldn't bring himself to scold her. Nate is holding on to his shirt following the two of them outside. 

Kai had a peach tree planted and then he made a beautiful garden. It has green grass, colorful small fruit trees that contain element spirit energy arranged neatly according to their groups. The final overview is a spectacular sight. 

Kai found out that Nate has space power and Vania has a powerful wind power like her mother. Kai let they use the magic part of the power because it doesn't need the crystal nuclei to be activated. The children can use simple to complicated spells already.

When they are powerful enough, Nate will be ble to teleport himself and others using his power. While he can attack with spells that can bend the space into whatever he desires. According to the records, space mages are formiable and rare.

Wind magic is simpler and straightforward making Vania easily adapt to using it. Kai has warned them to only fight in a training facilities to avoid casualties.

Kai is going to build his golden core and wants to be far away from humans as possible. But he is not in a hurry to do so because he has to ensure many of his people are well taken care of because he will then dedicate all of his time towards research after his breakthrough.

He made a solid plan and wven separated the working staff he will outsource to his six bases and the school. The must have a reliable source of money and necessities that will sustain them forever if necessary.

In the central base. The school has welcomed over 6 thousand young people including 1800 children. There is enough food, clothing and learning materials to grow strong. Everyone jumps at an opportunity to grow stronger as a result, there is no need for the orphanage staff members to encourage the students to work hard. 

Rather, the grown children are provided the bare minimum but can pay for extra luxuries using points. Six months later the system has been established firmly. Those without potential to awaken will receive the training in cold weapons inside the training facility that was built along with the rest of school buildings where robots who are disguised as teachers conduct normal lessons, magic lessons and combat training.

In the beginning, the schedules and all the new content of the lessons with magic spells, incarnations and different types of magic attacks was novel and hard for the students to get used to but when the plants started evolving and life outside became many times harder for the hunters, everyone began too adjust.

Kai has used the teleportation device to enter the base. At times he would appear outside the villa area scaring those at the gate but as time went by, they got used to it. Rumours began circulating that Kai has learnt a teleportation skill.

People are not all that surprised by this since his school teaches kids to use their power in strange ways. The base leaders are very concerned about this so today Kai is attending a meeting where he will be addressing all their questions.

He took the twins to school for the day and then appeared outside the base leader's office. Walking inside, he found a reception desk with a young man working there.

"Hello. How may I help you?" The receptionist asked.

"Hi, I am Kai Waters. I have an appointment with your boss." Kai said and the boy looked stunned.

"You're Kai Waters?" He stood up and made a gesture to follow him. "Everyone has been waiting for 30 minutes." The tone couldn't help being accusatory.

"I am not late." Kai said firmly. The boy just looked ready to give up explaining the problem to him. "With all due respect sir, that won't stop them from blaming you." He has green eyes and high cheek bones with full lips. Kai finds him cute for being scared so easily.

"They are waiting because I am worth it." Kai smiled at the young man but saw only pitty in his eyes. It seems the boy thinks Kai is being arrogant.

They reached the place and Kai entered with the receptionist. When he entered the powerful men and women who hold considerable influence in the base all stood up and respectfully greeted Kai.

The receptionist felt shock, these people would even flatter such a young man. Even the women look particularly seductive as if they are trying to eat Kai with their eyes. The boy felt cold.

Kai sat down and greeted everyone with a smile. The receptionist had done his job so he left while inside questioning everything about what he just witnessed.

"The room somehow feels fuller compared to the last time I was... summoned." Kai comments light heartedly.

"Cough, Kai. You look well." Yan Han said to break the ice.

"Base leader, you flatter me. To what do I owe the summon?" Kai asked and felt the others tense. A moment of silence passed and they started speaking at the same time.

"PLEASE.." Han imbued psychic power into his voice and everyone felt pressured so they kept silent.

Han looked at Kai and smiled a strained smile. "Kai, the first order of business is about the strange ways children from your school use their powers. We would like to know about it." Han said.

"My apologies but that is a trade secret besides, I am teaching them how to defend themselves in this cruel world. Do you have a problem with it?"

"No, we would like you to share this knowledge with everyone." Someone said but Kai chuckled until it turned into a full blown laughter. Wiping away his tears, he looked at the tense people wit a ridiculing gaze.

"Here is what's going to happen. The children will learn magic from my school, if they manage to graduate in a year they can use that knowledge however they like outside the school but they are not allowed to teach other people. This is because it is a secret but they can take in apprentices under their wing but there is magic contract that will be enforced upon both parties." Kai explained calmly. The expressions around the table are all very ugly.

"If a child shows promise in magical studies, they can be transferred to a magic tower I am currently building. It's location will remain a mystery for now. Those who graduate from the tower in three years will be the most powerful figures in our world. The future is bright gentlemen, don't you agree?" Kai is having the best time looking at their shocked expressions.

This implies that the filthy orphans who used to live on the streets after their parents died working for their families will become so powerful in the future they will have to bow their eads to them. These people are all intelligent people so the quickly realized Kai is having his revenge on them for their past actions.

"Kai, surely there's another way we can all get what we want?" Lady Yang asked Kai softly. She once saw a small boy cut a three meter wild boar into three equal slices while he levitated in the air. She will never forget the sight.

She has a niece who also has a wind super power but she can not do something like that, whats more frustrating is that the boy looked half the age of her niece but he seemed as powerful as she is.

"We are, remember that time you all forced me to use the flats in my territory or leave the central base? I am now housing all the dregs that were useless to you all because of their young age." Kai said coolly.

The school is only teaching basic to medium level magic butthe high magic will be in the tower where Kai will house the most valuable knowledge and magical research. The bright students will be able to access it and make their own theories.

"The barrier you put arround the villa area, we would like to purchase it for the entire base. You may name your price because we will be sharing the costs." Someone said when it became clear there is nothing else to be said about the magic knowledge.

Kai has prepared for this and just waited for the rest of it. The people saw that he didn't say anything and Han continued speaking.

"We would like a steady supply of glasshouses as well." Han swallowed when he saw the expression on Kai didn't change.

"Kai, we are neighbors. You will help us won't you?" Miss Yang who has a hot figure leaned forward on the table looking at Kai playfully." It seems the heavy tension from before is now gone.

"My apologies Miss Yang I can't help you but the team manufacturing the barrier discs are selling it on the online market from next week." Kai said and the people in the room looked puzzled. Why would Kai give up such strategic technology to someone else?

The answer is simple, Kai had been called by Xiao Ming who recently reached peak level qi refining telling him about a group of talented scientists who are developing all sorts of new things in his research department.

Kai found that they have made hover scooters although it still needs some work, they are in the right direction. This was also when brother Ming told him that he found an ore that allows other materials to be light if refined together although the process takes a lot of effort.

When he saw it he discovered that it is not in his database which doesn't happen often so he took a lot of it after helping the team with an easier way of refining the ore. After studying their other research data he gave them the barrier technologies to study and see if they can sell it to make money and finance their work.

All the people there had signed the contract with his slaves so he trust them. They will help Kai by becoming the manufacturing company that will selll his barrier to others since he is very busy.

He gave them the bracelet manufacturing process to another base so they can sell it and get funds. Kai seperated his products manufacturing amongst all six bases to lesson the work load on himself and to allow them to generate income for development.

"Are you serious Kai? You simply gave that type of technology away?" Huo Ai the grandfather of Huo Jun who once asked Kai for the technology of his smart bracelets fumed in anger after hearing Kai's words.

"That does not concern you old Huo, as for the glass houses, they can be ordered at another store online as well." Kai told them.

After giving one base such a good deal, he distributed his other resources points to the rest. He gave them working robots who will teach them the manufacturing process overtime. What surprised him was that other bases also have a research team including the central base.

"There are other things I will make you all aware of. Some of my best research have been successful and the product can be bought at the online shop. Listen carefully." He took out a magic tone that has been processed.

"This is a magic stone. It is the staff of legends, with this item I was able to replicate amost fantasy items in my online game." Kai threw the stone to Yan Han the base leader.

"A magic stone?" Han asked confused like the rest.

"It has the power of magic inside, this magic can be directed and used by the wielder if they know how. Look at this amulet, it is made from blue fragments of a water element magic stone. The runes on it will make the wearer immune to fire attacks, those with water or ice supernatural power will find their control and amount of power increase four times their original level." Kai smiled when he saw them all giving him looks of skepticism.

He put the necklace on one of the men seated there. "If you trust me, I will let someone with fire ability to attack you. You can keep the amulet if you survive." Kai smiled charmingly at the man. "What do you say?"

The man is dazzled by his bright smile. "Why choose me?" He shakily asked Kai who giggled at his nervousness.

"Because you have blue eyes and I don't know you well enough to dislike you." Kai said looking at the Huo family members some of which have blue eyes.

Some of the people laughed at the Huo family while others tried to stifle their laughter. "Anyways, do we have an agreement?" The man agreed but before Kai could say anything someone from the Huo family attacked the man with a powerful fire attack.

Everyone stood up to check on the man but found that the attack disappeared as soon as it reached him. Kai laughed and pretended to have been worried too. "Well, it works as you can see. Such Items can also be found in the online magical items shop." Kai said with a beaming smile.

"Take a look at his robe, in the game, players can roam the forest undetected by the powerful beasts inside. If you put it on, you essentially disappear from all senses including sight. It was made from a skin of a beast who camouflage itself to hunt."

Kai gave a work shop that produces magical weapons to all six of his bases and another one for the school so they can sell some and use some for themselves. Each base may learn how to create magic items from the working robots and whether they obtain any skills is up to them.

"Kai, this is a big deal. Are you the one making these?" Han asked with obvious excitement but Kai shook his head.

"No. But I have a reliable team doing it for me so you don't have to worry about stock running out when I take long seclusion for my cultivation." Kai said confidently.

"Kai, you have contributed greatly to the survival of the human race." Han said solemnly but Kai didn't take him seriously until he stood up and made a strong statement.

"From now on, whomever attacks the school in the villa area will be my Yan family's enemy." The room gained a deadly silence.

"This is true, Mr. Kai has improved not only communications, and commerce in such a chaotic world but he is now improving the survival of the human race." Another person stood up.

"I have to say Kai, you have outdone yourself and you therefore have my undying respect. Who ever makes things difficult for you is also my Yang family's enemy." The beautiful woman from before blew a kiss to Kai.

More and more people stood up until only the Huo family remained. It is impressive that they didn't crumble under pressure because they continued seating. Kai stood up and thanked everyone for their support. After a while, Kai dropped another bomb.

"This new smart bracelet can teleport a group of people anywhere in the world after setting the destination on the settings. As you have guessed, it is very expensive." Kai made a delighted face. What he didn't say is that no teleportation device works inside the barrier that kai uses at the school.

Kai told them about the main teleportation device that can be used to evacuate everyone incase of an emergency. This news shocked them silly for a while. Kai is not just a genius of the century but he is a super genius.

When the meeting was about to end he told them about the game Brainwaves which he made by combining hundreds of virtual games and turning them into a training program and a virtual world where everyone can meet and train using the monsters there.

Kai decided to introduce this game app inside the bracelet when he realized even if he is able to build a space crack sensor and seal all the cracks it is unknown if they will appear again.

If he is unable to close them all in time, people will be trained, armed and ready to fight whatever comes out.

"Thank you for allowing me to ramble on when you are all so busy. Lets do it again sometime." Kai is only being polite but the group of people are all smiles. Han asks him to stay as everyone leaves.

"What plans do you have for the future?" Han asked seriously.

"I have one big project to see through and then I want to take the twins to stay somewhere I can farm the field and herd the cattle. Live a peaceful life of cultivation and farming." Kai admitted.

"The twins will have friends by then, you are not thinking of taking them out of school are you?" Han chuckled.

The truth is that his children are the reason he is building a magic tower. He doesn't know if it is because they were nurtured from birth but they are very talented in the fields of magic studies. They will be the tower masters in the future. This is his grand present for them. He will train new slaves from the batch without spirit root and make them cultivators who will protect the twins with their lives.

Kai took out a can of space beer and took a sip. He gave Han one too. "Honestly I wish for a place with fresh air and pretty birds in the sky. The world has been shrouded in bad smell, contaminated soil, terrible weather and rotten corpses. It's all so discouraging." Kai admitted.

"I am sure things will look better soon. I have to ask you something though. These magic weapons, teleportation and invisibility cloaks seem to be preparing for something. Is something bad coming?" Han asked with a serious tone.

Kai sighed "I am working on preventing it but I am only one man so it will be best if we all prepare for the worst. For now I can't say more but get ready and get your people ready, just incase." Kai said.

"You are scaring me." Han frowned.

"Good." Kai stood up and left the other man bewildered.
