Chapter Eight: Three Gift Packages (Part One)

"What could be inside these gift packages?" Carter entered the interior of the Aeon System with excitement, but he also had a question: What did it mean to level up by two?

Soon, Carter appeared inside the Aeon System, but this time, the metallic room had something new. Besides the gray figure standing there, there were a few additional items.

Three small red boxes were quietly placed there. Although Carter didn't know what was inside the boxes, he felt very excited.

"Host, these are the gift packages you obtained by completing the tasks. Please accept them." Before Carter could ask, the voice of the Aeon System sounded.

"Aeon, what's inside these gift packages?" Carter walked up to the packages, not rushing to open them.

"The host will find out when you open them yourself later,"Aeon System didn't answer Carter's question. To the system, Carter's question seemed redundant.

"Uh..." Carter didn't expect the Aeon System to ignore him. For a moment, he didn't know what to say. Feeling ignored by the system was a bit uncomfortable, but considering that the Maya System would be of great help to him in the future, Carter decided to endure it.

"So, what does it mean to level up by two?" Carter sighed and asked again. He didn't believe that the Maya System would still refuse to tell him the answer to this question.

"Because the host killed an additional twenty-one zombies today, exceeding the task requirement. Ten zombies equal one level," the Aeon System answered in detail.

"What are the benefits of leveling up for me?" Carter didn't expect his luck to be so good. He received unexpected rewards for killing a few more zombies for his safety. However, he still didn't understand the significance of the levels mentioned by the Aeon System.

"One level equals the strength of an adult. Simply put, with the host's current level increased by two, it is now three, meaning the host's strength is three times that of an adult, triple what it was before," the Aeon System explained clearly.

"What? The strength of three adults?" After hearing what the Aeon System said, Carter's mouth hung open. Obviously, the Aeon System's words filled him with immense surprise.

An adult could easily lift a hundred kilograms, and Carter now had the strength of three adults, meaning he could effortlessly lift three hundred kilograms. Before the apocalypse, this would have made him a strongman.

"That's correct," the figure formed by the Aeon System nodded.

"So, if I exceed the number of zombies killed every day, can I keep leveling up?" Carter realized that the Aeon System wasn't joking and was almost about to jump for joy. With the strength of three adults, how would he fare against zombies?

With the strength of three adults, he wouldn't need to sneak up on zombies from behind anymore. He could face them head-on without taking too much of a disadvantage.

If he could level up twice every day, he would be invincible in less than a month, Carter thought with delight.

"The increase in level is effective within ten levels. Beyond level ten, you need to kill ten times the number of zombies," the Aeon System nodded without denying.

"So, exceeding level ten requires ten times the number of zombies, meaning I would need to kill a hundred zombies to level up once?" Carter felt like his beautiful dream had just been shattered.

According to the Aeon System, every ten levels would increase tenfold. To reach level thirty, he would need to kill a thousand zombies to level up once.

Carter didn't dare to calculate further; he wasn't a maniac, and even killing zombies had its limits.

But considering that his current physical fitness was only at level three, these issues weren't something he needed to think about now.

"But I didn't feel any difference in my body when I entered just now?" After coming back to his senses, Carter remembered that he didn't feel any different when he entered just now.

Now that Carter had understood these details, his gaze fell on the three large red gift packages.

"The Aeon System is a product of a Level Five civilization. The gifts it provides shouldn't be bad, right?" Carter walked up to the large gift packages, thinking to himself.

Although the name "Level Five civilization" was very vague to him, from what he understood from the Aeon System, even the Earth in the twenty-first century was considered backward in Aeon's eyes, having just stepped into the Level One civilization.

For this reason, Carter had high hopes for the gifts provided by the Aeon System.

Knowing that the Aeon System wouldn't actively tell him what was inside the packages, it was up to him now to find out.

"Hopefully, they're good things." Carter squatted in front of the large gift packages, carefully inspecting the beautifully packaged boxes.

"Swoosh." Carter didn't waste any more time guessing.

At this point, good or bad, it was all up to him.

"A book?" As Carter opened the first red box, he saw something that looked like a book. His expression immediately turned sour. In this zombie-infested apocalypse, who would have the mood to read?

Carter was almost about to curse the Aeon System as crazy. But when he picked up the book and saw the words on the pages, his frustrated expression was replaced by joy.

"Survival Guide to the Apocalypse." Carter picked up the book, not expecting to find something like this inside the gift package. It was truly a pleasant surprise.

This kind of book was far more attractive to Carter than a handgun.

After two days of getting to know the capabilities of the Aeon System, Carter knew that it was beyond his imagination. This was also the reason why he believed it.

For others, believing in the contents of this book would probably make them seem foolish.

After taking out the survival guide, Carter didn't rush to see what was written inside. The first gift package had already given him a surprise, so the next two should not disappoint him under reasonable circumstances.

With hopeful anticipation, Carter opened the second one.

"Storage Space."

After opening the second box, Carter found that apart from these four words, there was nothing else inside. For a moment, he didn't understand what it meant.
