Chapter 34

Meghan Wyatt in a private jet, never, even in my wildest dreams, I would have imagined that I will one day travel in a private jet. But I admit that it was more than pleasant, despite the fact that I did not feel at all in my place.

With Greg who was taking care of us and the air hostess who was in charge of bringing us everything we wanted. I didn't see the five hour of flight passing by, my father had spent half the flight sleeping in the bed that had been prepared for him. Which meant that we had spent almost three hours alone, Greg and I.

We talked a lot, it was crazy the way I could talk to him without a filter now, when only a few weeks ago I had to address him as "Sir". But a lot had happened in these last few days that had brought us closer. I still couldn't believe we were a couple now, unofficial of course, but a couple. I was normally someone who hated being vulnerable, but with him I allowed myself to be, and I acknowledge that it wasn't that bad.

We landed at 9 p.m. EDT. I couldn't wait to see the new apartment. Yesterday when I told my dad that we were going to move in with Flo and Greg's sister in a new apartment. I was surprised to see that he he didn't take it badly.

Despite the fact that he was trying to hide it from me, I could see that he was a bit down these days, it must surely be because of all the changes he was accumulating, I just hoped that it was going to pass.

When we landed, a car was already waiting for us at the airport. The man who gave Greg the car keys helped us unload the luggage from the plane and put it in the car.

We drove 25 minutes from the airport to the apartment. It was a building that was located in West Brickell. Greg parked the car in the parking lot of the building where there were already a dozen cars. We entered the building and went straight to the elevator. Greg helped us carry some luggages to the apartment and we would come back to take the rest.

"The building looks cool." my father said as we walked towards the elevator. He was right it looked like a good place, even if it looked a bit fancy.

Our apartment was on the 17th floor, and as soon as the elevator opened I saw Flo and Gina who were waiting for us. I missed him sincerely, we hugged as Gina greeted her brother and introduced herself to my father.

"You look good, I think you have a lot to tell me." Flo told me and I nodded smiling, he went to greet my father.

"Bay, didn't you miss me?" he asked my father teasingly and the latter pretended to be unhappy.

"Not even in my nightmares." They greeted each other with a grin, and my dad addressed to Gina. "If there's one thing I could have done without, it's living with this scum." Gina laughed and responded:

"Don't worry Mr. Wyatt, I'll make sure he doesn't bother you."

We followed Gina and Flo to the apartment, it was number 415. Flo opened the door to let us in. And there we saw a banner hanging on which was written: "Welcome Home Old Bay." Me and Flo knew my dad hated that name. And I knew Flo did it to tickle him. It was always like that between them. I giggled as soon as I saw the banner, and I heard my father growl.

"In my defense, Flo took care of the banner. That was all he had to do." said Gina to my father.

We entered the house. The living room was cozy, it was furnished with an off-white sofa, a TV, and other furniture. It was almost two times bigger than our old living room. We all entered and Flo offered to show me around the apartment while the others sat on the sofa and Gina offered them a drink.

The apartment was bigger than I imagined. My room was across from Flo's, and Gina's was next to mine. My dad's room was on the other side of the apartment and had its own bathroom. The kitchen was also large and we also had a balcony which overlooked the West side of Brickell, the view in the night was more than beautiful.

"Flo, but this apartment is huge, you're not going to make me believe that they're going to rent it to us at such a low price." I told Flo while we were on the balcony. I saw him becoming uncomfortable.

"Damn Meg, you know I hate lying to you, and I lied to you about the rent. But if I did it it's because you would have refused."

"What? But how could you do that?" I was starting to get angry.

"Before you get mad, listen to me first. I told you we were going to pay the same rent you and I and it's true, you will pay the same rent, and I just added a few cents. The one who pays the big amount is Gina, but she also pays the same amount as the one of her apartment in Coral Gables."

"But why did you do that? why did you let her do it?"

"Because she insisted, she has the means to do it and she wanted to move in with us, she hated living alone there. I said to myself if that's what she wants then why not. "

"So what about you, Flo, you need that money."

"Don't worry about me, I'll be finishing my thesis in a few weeks, and there's a chance I'll be hired full-time at the firm, so I'll certainly have an increase."

It was nice that they did that, yes it made me a little uncomfortable, but I had to admit that it will be convenient to live here, my father would have his own room and no one would have to to sleep on the couch.

"I hope you're not that angry." Flo said making me soft eyes.

"Of course I am. You should have told me , and it makes me uncomfortable that I'm the one who pays the least."

"I understand, but me and Gina don't have to pay for dialysis sessions and insulin cures." He had a point, all those expenses were going to drain me. And I also had to quit my job at the restaurant to take care of my father. Which meant less money was going to enter. I took a deep breath looking at him.

"Thanks anyway for what you're doing. I'll make it up to you," I told him, flashing a small smile.

"It's normal, that's what the family is for. And of course you'll have to make it up to me." We laughed and then went back to the living room.

We found Greg, Gina and my father laughing out loud.

"Well then, what makes you laugh so much?" Flo asked as she sat down on the couch. I went and sat next to Greg .

"Your dad was telling us stories about you two when you were kids." replied Gina.

"No, he didn't dare." Flo glared at my father.

"Seriously Dad, you never get tired of it"

"No, by the way, if I weren't tired, I'd tell them about the time you ran away and spent the night outside." he said teasing us

"Dad!"

"Bay!" me and Flo said at the same time.

"It's okay it's okay, I'm going to bed." he got up from the sofa. "Good night everyone, and thank you Greg for bringing us back." Greg nodded and Gina got up to show my dad his room.
