Chapter 31: Greg's POV

While Meghan was cleaning her father's room, I took the opportunity to make a few calls. Many people had tried to reach me. It was the first time that I spent so much time completely disconnected from my businesses. When I was with Meghan I was no longer that businessman you saw in the press. I was becoming a normal person like everyone else. Becoming a millionaire at such a young age meant that I didn't really have a private life. Everyone scrutinized my slightest act and gesture, which meant that I had to watch out for everything I did, with whom I showed myself out, because the slightest fault could have affected all my businesses. These few days in Idaho made me regain some semblance of privacy and I loved it. Added to that the story that I was living with Meghan which was just fabulous, I felt like a different person.

I spent almost an hour on the phone, fortunately Davis Energy Co was doing very well. Ashley had done a great job of covering up my absence. Only one problem had arisen, one of my clubs in Atlanta had been accused of being a haunt for prostitutes which could be a big problem if it ever comes out in the media. So I had to send Sean there to fix it all. Sean had arrived there last night and apparently the story was be more serious than we thought. But I had complete confidence in Sean, I hoped he would manage to fix everything.

"Keep me informed." I told Sean before hanging up.

"Is everything okay. You looked concerned." I turned to see Meghan who was behind me.

"Yeah I'm fine. just a few problems at one of my nightclubs." She came to sit next to me.

"You know if you have business to take care of you can go. My father is going out today and I won't have to set foot in the hospital anymore so I don't risk anything."

"No, Sean is there, and it's nothing he can't handle. And I want to make sure you get safe to Miami."

"Does that mean you're coming with us to there?" she asked in surprise and I nodded.

"Listen, I don't want you turning your back on your businesses because of me."

"You know I'm a businessman first and foremost. I wouldn't stay here while my business deteriorates. If I stay, it's because I know Sean can handle it. And he's more important for me to be here rather than there."

"Okay, so we'll have to book plane tickets for tomorrow."

"Plane tickets for what? We'll go in my private jet ." she opened her eyes wide and opened her mouth to say something but closed it immediately. She fluttered her eyelashes several times in surprise.

"Wow, uh...I...Excuse me, I knew you were well-off but... You're telling me you own a private jet?" I nodded and she exclaimed a "wow" . She really seemed surprised. And that's when I realized why she was different from other girls. Any other girls would have searched to know everything about me and my wealth, and would have treated me like a cash machine. I liked the way he treated me like an ordinary guy.

Her surprised look that couldn't dissipate made me laugh.

"I think it's going to take me a while to process the fact that I'm dating a billionaire."

"Don't worry, I'll help you get used to it." I approached her and laid her on the sofa and put myself on top of her to kiss her. It was crazy how much I wanted her all the time.

We got home around 1 p.m. with Bayron, he seemed to be very tired so he told us he was going to lie down for a bit while Meghan made lunch. I made the fruit salad while she was grilling the chicken cutlets we had bought the night before. She also prepared paws, and plain rice for her father.

"Well then, I didn't know you were doing so well in the kitchen." I told him while we were putting the table on.

"That's one of the advantages of living with a single dad. There's some things you have to learn, the thing is that I don't always have time to cook. At home it's Flo who cooks every day, and he cooks way better that me." when she pronounced Flo's name, I took the opportunity to ask her the question that was running through my head but that I hadn't had the opportunity to ask her.

"I heard you say this morning that Drew was very jealous of Flo?"

"Oh no you're not going to bring that up again."

"No, I just want to know why he was jealous of him."

"Drew was jealous of all the guys who approached me. So since I was very close to Flo, added to that the fact that they didn't get along very well , he couldn't stand it, he even tried to prevent me from seeing him but for me it was out of the question."

"Why didn't they get along?"

"That is to say that Drew is someone who is excessive in everything, jealousy, anger, everything. But in reality he is a good person, and that's what I always told Flo, but as Flo only came around in holidays, and because every time Drew saw us together he would get furious, Flo only got to see his bad sides."

"You know what I don't understand is why you keep on defending that jerk." I asked her while sitting on a chair, we had finished setting the table. It pissed me off to see how she defended Drew every time. She gave me a half smile.

"I don't defend him, but I've known him for a long time and I know he's a good person despite everything. He just needs to control his outbursts, that's all." After that she went up the stairs leaving me alone thinking. I didn't know what effect it must have had on me that she defended her ex boyfriend. But I didn't want to let myself be overwhelmed by bad thoughts, all that showed me the mistake that I shouldn't make. That is, to be excessively jealous. Meghan returned with her father, and they sat down to eat.

During lunch we talked about everything and nothing. Bayron told anecdotes about Meghan when she was little which made her very uncomfortable and it amused me even more. We laughed a lot while eating, but as soon as Bayron had swallowed his last mouthful he suddenly became serious and cleared his throat.

"So Greg, we haven't had the opportunity to talk much you and me. Tell me a bit about yourself." Wow, I've never been so freaked out by a question like I was now. With Meghan we exchanged a little look before I answered.

"Uh, I live in New York, but I go back and forth a lot, because I have nightclubs in a lot of places in the world including Miami. I..."

"Wait Greg," he cut me off. "There you are talking to me about Greg Davis, the rich businessman who appears in the tabloids, but that I already know because you can imagine that I did my little investigation. But me, that's not what interest me, I want you to tell me about Greg, my daughter's boyfriend because I imagine that you two are together?" We looked at each other again, and there it was me who was uncomfortable.

"Yes, yes we are together." I answered while still looking at her and she gave me a nice smile.

"Well, that's why I want to get to know you better. Because you have to understand that as a father, I have to make sure that you treat my daughter well. So tell me about your family, for example."

"Yes I understand. So as everyone knows I come from a wealthy family, I have a sister and my father died last year. I was very close to both my parents, but I was even more with my grandfather who died when I was 19. I'm a very lonely person, I only have one real friend and that's it."

"I'm sorry about your father and grandfather."

"Thanks." After that he got up.

"Well, I'm going back to bed because I have to rest before tomorrow's trip. If you want to go somewhere, you can because I guess I won't be waking up for hours." then he was gone.

"Oh my God I got hot." I said as soon as I was no longer hearing those footsteps on the stairs. Meghan giggled as she stood up and took the plates. I helped her clear the table.
