Chapter III: Powers Revealed

A strong wind began blowing in the air. "What's happening?!" Zak shouts. In an instant, the gems started to glow again. The gems then create lightning beams that attract the boys' souls. After the gems strike the boys, they immediately fall to the ground. The ground stops shaking, and the wind stops blowing. All the boys remained on the floor. They lean up from the shock.

"You guys, what just happened?" Christian asks.

"I remember an earthquake and then, some sort of lightning going into my body, now I have tingles in my chest," Charlie says.

"Same, dude," Dexter adds.

"Same," Christian agrees. The three boys start rubbing their chests. Moments later, Christian notices his brother is missing. "Guys, where's my brother?" Christian says as he begins to look around. Dexter and Charlie look around too.

"I'm right here," Zak says.

"What?" Christian asks out loud, confused. Suddenly, Zak turns visible again.

"You can turn invisible?!" Dexter asks, surprised.

"I...yes?" Zak responds. The other boys are surprised as well.

"How'd you do that?" Christian asks Zak.

"I don't know, I just can," Zak replies. Charlie, Dexter, and Christian slowly rise up, staring at Zak, confused at his new ability. Christian walks over and tries to help Zak up. As he does, he flings his brother across the clearing sky before letting him crash onto the ground. Christian, Charlie, and Dexter run toward Zak, in shock.

"Are you okay?" Charlie asks Zak, concerned.

"Yeah," Zak says, while trying to get up.

"My bad, I didn't know you were that light, dude," Christian says to Zak.

"I'm not, but it's all good," Zak says, getting up. "Why did you have to use so much force though— it's like you used all your strength to help me up." Dexter and Charlie lean in. The same thought fills both of their heads.

"You got super strength!" Charlie says. Christian looks at his hands, then back up, amazed.

"What did those gems do to us?" Christian asks, looking at the others.

"Well, whatever they did, it gave you guys superpowers!" Charlie says.

"Wait," Dexter starts to say. "If Zak and Christian got their powers, shouldn't that mean we should get our powers, too?" Dexter asks as he points to Charlie and himself.

"Maybe," Charlie says while shrugging his arms. Suddenly, dirt and leaves float up into the air in unison with his movement.

"Hold up Charlie, do that again," Dexter says.

"What, this?" Charlie says, shrugging his arms again. The leaves and dirt rise around him once again.

"Yeah, that, now turn around!" Dexter says to Charlie. Charlie turns around to see leaves and dirt in the air.

"Woah!" Charlie says, amazed. Charlie puts the leaves and dirt back down, then turns around, facing the other boys. "I think I have telekinesis!"

"Man, we got to catch these moments on video," Dexter says to the others. The other boys agree. Dexter quickly pulls the video camera out of Christian's backpack, props it up, then speeds back to where he stood. Zak, Christian, and Charlie's eyes start to widen. They all grin at one another. Dexter has super speed! The boys are now excitedly playing with their new powers.

After a few moments of the boys playing with their superpowers, Christian checks the time.

"Zak, it's getting late, we need to get going," Christian says.

"Are you kidding? I'm having the time of my life right now." Zak says, turning invisible. Christian rolls his eyes.

"Zak I'm serious, mom is probably freaking out about where we are at this time of night," Christian says in a serious tone. Zak stops playing and then rolls his eyes. "Fine." Zak says, beginning to feel bummed out. Charlie and Dexter stop messing around too.

"Ok, you guys, I guess me and Christian have to go," Zak tells the others.

"It's all good," Charlie says.

"If we can, we should meet back here tomorrow," Zak says.

"Bet," Dexter responds. The boys then race out of the woods after collecting their gems, forgetting about the video camera propped up in the corner. Moments later, a limousine slowly rolls through the woods. The doors open, and three men get out of the car. The three men start walking through the woods to find what was theirs.

"Are you sure your belongings are here, sir?" One of the men says.

"You idiot, I distinctly remember leaving the gems here," The man says, pointing around. As the men search around, the man finds the recording video camera. He picks it up, stops the recording, then rewinds the tape. He is now watching the footage of the four boys and their powers play out before him.

"Did you find what you needed, sir?" one of the men says.

"I think we got just what we needed," The head man says. The video dies down and he grins evilly at his reflection.
