First Day at School

Ezekiel woke up early as usual. He always started his day with some light exercises and stretches. He wouldn't get any stronger due to them, but it helped him waking up properly. After a short breakfast he changed into the Kuoh Academy uniform grabbed his backpack and walked out of his apartment.

Jeanne was already outside, waiting for him. Since he would always wake up early, she would do the same. She wouldn't be much of an assistant if she didn't.

"Good morning, Jeanne. How did you sleep?" Ezekiel asked, as he began walking with her falling in step beside him.

"Good morning, Zeke! I slept wonderful, how was your night?" Jeanne asked in return.

"It was good, fortunately I didn't dream anything tonight." He responded with a smile.

Jeanne tilted her head. Was it something good not having a dream? She just reasoned it was one of Ezekiel's quirks and stopped thinking about it.

"Are you excited for our first day of school, Zeke?" She asked cheerfully, obviously looking forward to it. She was always easy to excite with new things and the chance to meet potential new friends.

"Honestly? I would rather go explore some other things or fight someone strong. A dragon king should pose a decent challenge. They all have huge amounts of battle experience and I can control myself a little to make it exciting." He earnestly replied. Motivated through his constant progress he had the desire to test and challenge himself further.

It wasn't surprising but still caused Jeanne to roll her eyes in exasperation. Hopefully he would hold back his urges when meeting important people from other factions in the future.

"But aren't you excited to meet new people? You can't always just think about training and serious stuff. You need to find a hobby that doesn't involve fighting, something that could calm you down." Jeanne just wanted to ask him but got a little exasperated toward the end.

"If it's about a calming hobby, I can always meditate." Ezekiel replied with a shrug.

"You know, that is not what I meant." Her reply was met with silence, while Ezekiel thought about her suggestion. He enjoyed training and fighting since it has been part of his life for a long time. But if one asked him if he had a hobby aside from that, the answer would be no.

"We arrived." Jeanne's voice brought him out of his thoughts. He could always think more about it later.

In front of them were the academy gates with part of the student council checking the students that entered. Obviously, there was nothing to complain since both Ezekiel and Jeanne were wearing their uniform according to the rules and arrived with time to spare. Their first stop would be the student council since they were responsible for handing out their schedule.

As they walked through the hallways, a select few students would whisper about them and who they were. Their features were mostly those of people from European descent, which was rather rare in Japan. Aside from a select few, the students were Japanese. It didn't help that both of them were good looking and Ezekiel clearly taller than even most teachers. After a few minutes they arrived at the student council room and knocked.

"Enter." A stoic voice rang out in reply before they stepped into the room. The only person currently inside was a young woman with black hair in a short bob-cut. The only noticeable features were her rather lean body and the glasses she was wearing. Her whole demeanour was screaming "serious character".

"Good morning Miss Shitori. We are the exchange students from Italy and were told to come here to get our schedule." Ezekiel said politely, but not overly so. Respect was earned and someone that sat behind his desk without even looking up when greeting someone, demanded only the minimum he had to offer.

The student council president looked up from her documents and greeted the both of them shortly: "Good morning. Let me get them for you quickly." She said before rummaging through on the drawers. A few seconds later she handed them their respective schedules, that essentially were the same since they shared all their classes.

"The documents I just handed to you contain your timetable and the place your classes will take place. On the backside is a small map to find the respective rooms quickly." Sona explained.

"Is there anything else we have to do before going to our first class?" Jeanne asked curiously. It seems the student council president was a woman of few words.

"No, that would be all. The formalities have already been handled. Since you missed the first few weeks, feel free to ask if you need any help from your classmates. I will see you later." She replied again before concentrating on her work.

Ezekiel and Jeanne quietly left the room to walk to their classroom.

"Well that was stiff." Jeanne said with a weird expression. She hoped not every person in their class would be as serious.

"You read the handouts we were given about these two devils and their known servants. Her character fits the description even better than I thought. She really is an earnest person. But I don't think you have to worry." Ezekiel said as they arrived in their classroom.

They quickly found their places at the back of the classroom. Ezekiel surprisingly got a seat at the window. It would at least quell some of the boredom from the coming lessons. The only thing he still had to learn were Kanji. Due to the skill inherent to many supernatural races he could speak every language, but that didn't involve the written form of a language.

Since they were early, it took a while for the rest of the students to arrive. The most notable ones being four devils. Two of them were the student council president and her vice president. Both were stoic people. The other two were busty young women with red and black hair. When the last devil with long black hair entered, Ezekiel had to school his features and supress his expression not to slip. She seems nothing like the sadistic woman he saw yesterday evening.

All of them were beautiful, but Ezekiel didn't bother too much about it. He had desires like everyone else, but he didn't just look for a nice appearance. It was hard to impress him when it comes to facial and bodily features after he saw tons of beautiful angels for all his life.

After the teacher entered, the class quieted down. He was a middle-aged man teaching mathematics. Just as he wanted to start the class, the door opened again and revealed a beautiful woman with long white hair. Her features were even superior to all four of the devils. Ezekiel thought he heard a girl click her tongue, but he might have imagined it.

"Sorry, I overslept!" the girl shouted before scrambling into the classroom. The teacher wanted to say something, but in the end just sighed. Sona narrowed her eyes, clearly dissatisfied with her breach of rules, while some other students chuckled quietly.

Her seat was coincidentally the one in front of Ezekiel. Before she sat down, she noticed the new student in front of her. Both looked each other into the eyes for a moment. What they thought, only they knew.

"Hello, may name is Abelia. You are?" she asked, before their interaction became awkward.

Ezekiel took her outstretched hand before replying: "Nice to meet you Abelia, my name is Ezekiel. Me and Jeanne over there are exchange students and your classmates starting today."

Abelia smiled before a cough broke them out of their interaction. The teacher was now glaring at them.

"Since everyone finally calmed down, we will start with the class. As you might have heard, we have two exchange students from Italy for the rest of the year. If you want to know anything about them, you can ask them later while you have your break." The teacher said before he started his lesson.

Jeanne just smiled while waving at the other students. Ezekiel tried his best to ignore the stares directed at him.

When everyone concentrated on the teacher, he looked on the back of Abelia sitting in front of him. He had very sharp senses and was sure, that she wasn't a normal human. But to hide her aura to that extent, her proficiency at it should even come close to himself. Of course, he didn't train too much in concealment, but his energy manipulation was top-notch and clearly helped in that aspect.

While thinking about the young woman in front of him, their first day at school went on.
