AN INEVITABLE FATE

Rachel lost all the colors of her life even before turning 20. She never thought she could fall in love again. On that day, she lost her hopes and the desire to live. The only thing that kept her alive was her memories with him. It was the day when Aaron first saw her. He had never believed in love at first sight. He saw her crying miserably. He stood there the whole day watching her. Later he learned, that it was the day when she lost the love of her life, her husband. He couldn't believe himself that he actually fell in love with a girl at the funeral - her husband's funeral. "Don't leave." Aaron had run behind her, getting drenched in the rain. He was scared, scared that she would leave him. She pushed him hard and shouted, "I don't like you!" Aaron stood there, rooted to the ground. Staring with a blank expression he asked, "Why?" She tightened her lips, scared of showing her weaker side. He continued, "Because of your husband's death?" Rachel felt her world collapsing. She hadn't expected him to know about Eric's death. Seeing her expression he continued, "Rach, you can't live with memories forever. You have to move forward with someone. But I want that someone to be me." Rachel took a deep breath. "I'm not going to get married again." Seeing her being adamant, he said, "Yes, someday, you will." "No, I won't." He asked, "What if you change your mind in the future?" "That will never happen. If that day comes, then I will come to you." Rachel just wanted to get over with this as soon as possible. She didn't think much about her words as that day would never be going to come. Arron narrowed his eyes and asked, "Promise?" She nodded. With an evil grin, he went near her. Holding her face, "Let's seal this promise." Saying this, he kissed her hard. His first love. Can he bring back the happiness that she couldn't even find in her dreams? Him and her? Is it possible? Is it an inevitable fate? Chapter 74 : The press conference (5)

Rachel looked horrified with her eyes wide opened. What did he just say?

"I said, okay."

"Are you... Sure?"

Like, he simply said yes? Without thinking it through?

But Aaron nodded his head in determination.

'I have never been so sure about anything before!'

Rachel wiped her tears with joy.

"Thank you, thank you so much. You don't have to worry about this and, you don't have to take this marriage seriously. We can divorce later and I will never disturb your life. I promise!"

She looked like a soldier taking the oath wholeheartedly.

Aaron was speechless.

'Please, they were not even married yet but here she was, talking about divorce.'

"Let's go."

He took his blazer and dragged Rachel out of the building.

The employees were stunned, seeing their boss dragging the girl in a hurry.

What just happened?

Aaron insisted her to go in his car. She was still the process of digesting the fact that she had asked him to marry her.

The car was filled with nothing but silence. Her silence was terrifying Aaron.

Rachel studied his face. She has to tell him, he had every right to learn the truth.

"Stop the car!"

The car stopped with a screech!

"What's wrong?"

'Is she regretting her decision?'

Aaron looked tensed.

Rachel took out her mobile to show the messages from the unknown number.

Seeing all those messages and pictures, his blood started to boil.

"I tried finding Jane but I couldn't. Just a few minutes back I got the last message. It was Jane's photo. They have kidnapped her. I... I don't have any other options. To safeguard her, I-"

"You must marry me."

He completed her sentence.

Rachel slowly nodded with guilt. After all, she was using him to solve her problem.

"Do you have any idea what could be the consequences of our marriage?"

Again, Rachel nodded.

"Your father might hate you for the rest of his life. You might lose everything."

"I know, I know. But what else can I do? I have already hurt my father and now, I can't risk Jane's life. If I don't do this, they will kill her. Nothing is important than my family."

Aaron's heart ached to see her crying.

He reached for his phone to make a call.

"What's wrong? Whom are you calling? You can choose not to help me, I won't blame you. I will do something-"

"Can you shut up for a moment, please?"

Rachel pouted without her knowledge and sat in the corner, sulking.

He would have teased her if not for the emergency.

"Mark, it's me. I have work for you."

_

They both reached the Orchard company/Stein Industry building.

As they made their way towards the elevator, all weird glances were sent towards them. They could hear the gossips from the employees, standing beside them.

"Can you believe them? Like, they are roaming around together?"

"I know, look at her, she has the nerves to bring her affair to the office. I pity our boss!"

"Sigh, now that the article got released, our company stocks have been affected. Our boss's hard work has gone to vain."

Aaron just stood their, next to Rachel without any care. And, Rachel was in no position to retort back at them.

If it was before the incident, she would have warned them to watch their filthy mouths but now, she had lost her esteem.

They took the private elevator and reached the top floor. As soon as they walked out, a man in the black suit welcomed them.

"Rachel!"

The man walked up to her and engulfed her.

What the hell?

Aaron wanted to punch the guy in the face for hugging his woman.

Rachel pushed the guy and slapped his arm playfully.

"This is my friend, Steve Austin, he works in the PR department as the manager. Austin, this is Mr. Lee Aaron."

She introduced both parties.

And, both parties were not happy with each other.

"How can I not know Mr. Lee? I know him, very clearly."

Rachel gasped, understanding the underlying meaning of his statement. He was referring to the article.

"Austin, stop this! Is everything ready?"

She glared at her friend. Did he not know that she was there in the article as well?

"Yeah, everything is ready. Once, you both get changed, we can start the conference. Here is the script for you both."

He took the script from the person next to him.

"We don't need a script, we will be there in half an hour."

Aaron smirked as he replied.

Steve Austin glared at him. He had thought the press conference was to clear his friend's name. But it seems that wasn't the case.

The couple entered the room assigned for them and saw the required clothes for the press conference on the hanger.

"You get changed first, I will be outside."

Though the male lead was a shameless guy from the first chapter, at least he had the decency to leave the room first for the woman.

Aaron came out by closing the door behind. He wasn't surprised to see Austin outside, waiting for him.

Happy reading time.
